Why does it take so long to delete a backup set with the Norton Security Premium product?

Why does it take so long to delete a backup set with the Norton Security Premium product? No doubt I had 49000+ files in it but with the Norton 360 product which I had before moving to the above. It took 3-4 hrs to remove a 1000+ files. I lost patience and cancelled. Is there a quicker way of deleting it quickly? Appreciate any help or reply

I think if you read the thread above "Back up", you will find the way to delete the backup set. I just did, their solution is quite easy to follow.

Hi, I still don't understand what you mean by the thread above "Back up". Could you point me to the link?

In fact I had a Norton global agent try to help me out and it took 2 or more hours and the matter wasn't resolved. He/she tried to change the security settings of the Backup sets so that they can be read/delete/write (can't remember all of it - the file attributes) cos Windows is preventing Norton from deleting the file. Says that Norton needs to decrypt the file before it can be deleted. But that didn't work, then had to go to safe mode to do it and still it didn't work. The backup sets could not be deleted. It tries to delete but end up in endless circles cos it gets 'stuck' halfway saying that this file or that need system admin permission!!. Really annoying. Might have to format my external HD to start all over again.
