Why does Norton repeatedly ask for credentials even though I have provided them many times within the last 10 mintues?

Since converting to password manager from the old identity safe I get no benefit from Norton (the old product worked very well, but is no longer available).    I am repeatedly asked for Norton credentials and the vault credentials over and over again on all browswers and web sites of many kinds.   Many of these are not banking sites, but merely social networking sites or shopping sites.   Password Manager simply does not work unless you want to type two passwords everytime you do something.   It would be much simpler to just store credentials in a local encrypted file and open it when necessary.   It takes less time to do that.   Given that some malware attacks use keyboard logging, this continual re-typing of passwords appears to me to be major security issue that should be avoided.   I will be looking for other types of password vaulting in the future.   Norton really lblew it on this one.

What browser are you using Norton Password Manager, NPM, with?

The new NPM is really the same product that Identity Safe was, with a new name to better describe what it does.

Are you closing the browser between times you are asked for the credentials. When using the online vaults with the latest versions of Identity Safe and now Password Manager, the vault will be closed every time you close your browser. Norton has chosen this path as a security measure.

I have the same issue. To answer your question posed to the other person, I am using Google Chrome, Firefox, and Bing. NPM performs the same in all of them. No, the browsers are not being closed between sign-ins when this happens to me. If it happened only when I have closed the browser or restarted my computer, I would have no complaints. I have Windows 10 OS in case that helps. I have submitted feedback about this issue also. I cannot say how long before I have to sign in again, but it could easily be every 10 minutes. It certainly is not an hour. I still love NPM. It's just annoying having to sign in so often. Maybe provide sign-in options.

If it is possible to quantify the time between when you sign in and you are signed out it would be a great help to diagnose the problem.

Hello,

I don't know if this is the problem, may be worth a try.

Click on the 3 dots on the toolbar, then click on "Open Password Manager Settings".

Then click on the tab marked "security".

The 3rd option down allows you to close the vault after a certain period of inactivity,15 minutes being the default.

Has this option somehow been selected?

That option will only appear if you are using IE with a local vault. The newer cloud vaults do not have that option available.

I'm on the Cloud and the options are available but only apply of course to IE

I stand corrected. I was thinking of a setting for Automatically open vault when Windows starts.

The close after XX minutes inactivity is there for both local and online vaults.  But as noted, for IE only.
