Why isn't my safe web search working?

I have just bought a new computer (windows 10) and I added my current Norton's Internet security (I am allowed 3 users) to my new computer. I followed the instructions on my current version and was guided to a download site and I downloaded it. Now my current version had 'Safe web search' (those little green ticks) that show when searching. But they are not working on my new computer. I don't see why I should have to buy Safe Search separately when I have already paid for it.

Notes:

My new computer came with a trial Nortons so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

I have had my current Nortons for about 6 years and every year I pay for it and it updates okay

@tony56

As a starting point, please tell us which browser you are using in WIN 10?

The normal default browser is EDGE and if using it, you must install and enable the Norton Safe Web extension.

If you open your Norton Security product and double click on the Online Safety pillar, you will see Browser Extensions. Clicking on that will open your default browser and present you with all the Norton Extensions you can install on that browser. Choose the ones you want, then restart your browser.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Also, the Safe Web annotations only show up in Chrome and IE searches now.  They don't appear in Firefox or Edge.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Thanks very much guys

I was able to set up safe search on my firefox browser, and the little green ticks show on that browser. That is my default browser anyway, so that's good

Cheers

Oh, you're using Norton Safe Search, power by Ask search engine.  My post above referred to Google and Bing searches.  Sorry I gave incomplete information.

The user’s search query requests made through our Norton Safe Search product will be directed to our Third-Party Search Partners Oath/Yahoo! (for US and Canada) and IACI (for non-US/Canada) in order for the query research to be delivered to you.

Oath/Yahoo ?

Hi bjm_:

I suspect that's related to the Yahoo Vendor feature added to Norton Safe Web v3.1.0.2.  I asked about this feature in my October 2018 thread Norton Safe Web v3.1.0.2 - What is the Yahoo Vendor Feature? and no one from Norton had the courtesy to respond to my concerns.

I never used the Norton Safe Search function embedded in Norton Safe Web because I don't like having my browsing history shared with Ask.com, and I decided to remove the Norton Safe Web extension from my Firefox browser several months ago.

So: When you submit a search query through Norton Safe Search, it will be directed to Ask.com where your query is processed and the search results are provided.   And: The user’s search query requests made through our Norton Safe Search product will be directed to our Third-Party Search Partners Oath/Yahoo! (for US and Canada) and IACI (for non-US/Canada) in order for the query research to be delivered to you.
