Why is the Norton Security Suite toolbar for Comcast always later than the others?

Why does Norton always provide Comcast.customers with inferior service?  Every update of Firefox seems to result in a failure by Norton to provide a new toolbar in a timely fashion.  Please advise.

Hi tom10i,

I hear what you are saying and understand why you are asking - but I must also say that there has been some updates for FF and the NTB that have come through for Comcast users at the same time as the retail users have received them.

The current situation is being caused by Comcast users not having been updated to version 21.4.0.13 yet. The update to the NTB for FF 31 was designed to work on this version and Comcast users are not on this version.

Now after saying all that, what makes you think that it is Norton's fault that the Comcast servers have not been updated?

I volunteer my time on both the Norton and Comcast Forums and I do speak my mind on behalf of the Comcast users to Norton Admins.  Trust me they are well aware of this situation and will flag this response for an admin to see!

The Norton Identity safe in the toolbar is unique since it keeps the passwords on the computer rather than the cloud.  Perhaps the different coding of the toolbar contributed towards the delay.

Comcast devotes too much of its resources in providing its "excellent level of customer service" rather than worrying about piddly things like NSS/NTB updates!

Hi PaulGo,

Actually the Local Vault on NSS is nothing unique - there are many users who still have the Local Vault on their retail Norton products and they were able to update the NTB and use FF 31 on their updated Norton products.  It is the update to 21.4.0.13 as explained many times that is preventing Comcast users from upgrading the NTB.

Hi folks, I know there are some delays when we release Comcast layouts of Norton products. We try to get them out in a timely manner, and I think it's been a while since we've had delays like this one. I like to keep some perspective on a situation, as we tend to deal in hyperbole when something goes awry.

That said, it's not fun when there are compatibility issues, and I'm sorry. There were some changes to the Toolbar and to Firefox that required much more work than we had expected. For that reason, we needed to delay the release. We should have some more information shortly, and we'll keep you up-to-date. And as always, I'll give you as much information as I can. Thanks for your understanding.
