Why should I continue subscription to symantec???

1. What a gr8 patch(16.5),  meant to destroy working live update in 16.2 version

    refer to http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=41549

2. Tech support - Gives the solution which is already on forum despite telling that its not working, then suggesting reinstalling - nothing worked. They can't help now as they don't know the problem.

3. Detection - 1month ago submission o threatfire not detected yet.

(Note : Don't forget controversies of PIFTS.exe too.)

Whats the use of buying an antivirus software which doesn't get updated and moreover tech support even doesn't know the solution.

Any good reason for my continual with symantec?

Re: Why should I continue subscription to symantec???

First of all, there was no "Controversy" concerning the Pifts.exe, only people freaking out before Symantec told everyone exactly what it does. Yes, there was a lot of fear mongering, but really, this is Symantec we're talking about, not some fly by night operation.

Secondly, the new update works flawlessly on many many systems, mine included. It seems you are extremely upset and starting multiple threads on the subject.  Maybe you should take a look at the other top end vendors and look at their forums. The grass is no greener on the other side I assure you.

Give Symantec a chance to address your issues. You are obviously not a newbie to these forums, you know how it works.

If you feel you aren't getting adequate support,  you are free to use any other protection you like.

Re: Why should I continue subscription to symantec???

well tbh symantec has messed up but you only hear about those things when you are using their product, if you'd be using another av e.g. eset, you'd hear about their problems etc - no av is perfect, I think if u want to move on from symantec, then that's your choice, you can't be asking people for their opinion. There are a few people who are affected by the new patch but on the other hand some aren't.......

Re: Why should I continue subscription to symantec???

Hi -

You *should* continue with the product.

The road to perfection is a rocky one, but it is still a road!

I, too, would gladly pay a bit more for the product, if their Phone and Web technical support is vastly improved.

It would be best if their phone and chat were North American (or UK!) based for clarity.

Then again, complaining in this forum is a great idea!

Re: Why should I continue subscription to symantec???

Last day my net was down so couldn't post

@cinek

Its not abt moving on with other product.

Symantec at the first place given this update in controlled manner to avoid any bugs, then what is the use of that strategy, even if ppl r getting bugs.

It was adviced by ppl to improve live update mechanism but they have made it worse. What kind of marketing is it to ignore feedbacks after taking them?

And about liveupdate its 2 days and i m still recieving same error and can't update. Even tech support is unable to help.

Is ther any place where i can get 16.2.0.7 version?

It was running fine and live update was fine too, it wud b better for me to revert back to old version than this nuisance version full of bug.
