Wi-Fi Security - Scanning...

Lately my status bar is showing the Wi-Fi Security Scanning... and it won't go away. I can't swipe or 'clear all'.

Just to be clear. I don't want to be on any wifi network, so I'm not sure why it's trying to scan.

This is happening on my Pixel 2 XL on Sprint.

Re: Wi-Fi Security - Scanning...

Do you have wifi enabled on  your device? If so, even if you do not want to connect to any networks, Norton will still scan them for possible security risks.

What Android version is on your device?

Have you tried restarting your device?

Re: Wi-Fi Security - Scanning...

this starting happening to me too, yesterday. It started happening after I updated my Norton App in Google Play yesterday. It began scanning my wifi connection, but wouldn't stop. The little notification is in the corner says it's scanning, so when I go to the norton home screen it shows that it is scanning. But the scan doesn't end. Then, sometimes when I go to the Norton home screen it doesn't show that it's scanning (it's says my wi fi connection is safe) but the notification is still in the upper left of my phone saying it's scanning. When I restart my phone, it goes away/all goes back to normal.

Like I mentioned it began happening after the latest Norton update, I am guessing it is a bug that needs a fix?

Re: Wi-Fi Security - Scanning...

If restarting your device stopped the message, I would suggest that it is like a Windows PC, where a system restart sorts out issues with updates.
