will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

Just wondering if Norton is ever going to get idenity safe working on Firefox again?

Its been months now and when i talk to someone at Norton i get the ...were working on it answer.

Seems like a long time for such a large software company to be able to fix this?

any one else know anything about this?

Short answer is yes, but we don't have an ETA when, sorry.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Hello

If Norton was not going to support the Firefox Toolbar, there would be an Announcement saying so. There is no such Announcement like that, so Norton is working on it.  Also, Mozilla has to cooperate also..

Sorry it has been taking so long..

Thanks.

Mozilla is still changing the way add-ons work on FF. See this post as to what is going on at Mozilla.

This is very frustrating!  It's been over 6 months since Norton stopped working with Firefox and there isn't even an ETA for when it will be fixed!  I have disabled my auto renewal for my Norton subscription and will move to a different product if this issue isn't fixed before my current subscription expires.

Where did you get this information from? I doubt it was from any Symantec/Norton website or Announcement. Of course Norton is working on the Identity Safe for Firefox. As PhoneMan has stated, Mozilla keeps making changes to the way add-ons are going to work, so that does slow down Norton, but it has not stopped all work on it.

Thanks.

Hello

You should turn off auto-renewal. You can find much better prices at reputable stores and reputable online sites as well especially if you are using Norton Security.

Thanks.

Re: will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

Hi floplot - I'm using Norton 360 Premier.  I've been aware for many years that I could pay Norton less by not doing auto-renewal.  I've kept the auto-renewal in place for convenience and because up until now I've been a satisfied customer.  As I mentioned above, I am going to shift to a different company's product if Norton doesn't fix Identity Safe for Firefox before my current subscription expires.  Thanks.

I see Kaspersky look to have a working password manager in Firefox now, I switched to laspass and will move to a new security program when my sub runs out anyway after the on going problems with Norton’s lack of communication etc.

Re: will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

I switched to LastPass, which is free to use and IMHO works so much better than the Norton Identity Safe.    The only tricky part was importing all of my Norton information into LastPass.    What worked for me was a procedure in the following link:

https://www.stickypassword.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=85354

In particular, follow the instructions in the last post authored by John Flyer.   It requires doing a bit of editing of a CSV file containing your Norton info before importing the same into LastPass.

And unlike NIS which always was problematic in handling logins for a given website with multiple accounts/login data, I've been using LastPass for over a month now and have not encountered a single problem.

If you are Firefox user, forget about NIS and make the switch to LastPass.

The only hope for Norton is if they can pay the software engineers at LastPass enough to fix Norton's problems.

So, do we get ONLY the Lastpass plugin for Firefox or do we need the whole package that installs it on all browsers?

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!

Re: will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

As Lastpass saves new logons from Firefox its pointless keeping anything else installed as new logons will not be active. Get Laspass working then when your security program needs renewing you can move to whatever one you think best rather than being tied to Norton! Thus Norton has rather shot itself in the foot creating a more independent Firefox customer base now!

...but do you install the whole Lastpass package, that installs Lastpass on all browsers, or do you ONLY get the Firefox plugin?

There are several posts about importing IDSafe data into Lastpass, but there must be 1 correct way. Some say you need a blank line between the headers (in the csv file) and the data and others say you don't. There are also some that say you need to add a field (fav) and fill it with zeros, and others make no mention of it!

A way to make things work for certain, which I did, was to download LastPass, INSTALL it on my computer, and I only picked to include it in my installation of Firefox.  Then some practice and use of LastPass was done.  Later, I decided I would like to also have access to login combinations when using a chrome type browser.  I installed THE LASTPASS EXTENSION from the Chrome web store for the chrome type browser, and I now have access to my login combinations when using this browser.

Re: will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

I'm not real good with computers and when someone suggests adding or editing lines in a cvs file, I stop.

Is there an easy way to install and just have it work ...

Re: will idenity safe ever work on firefox again?

I used IE to log onto all the web sites I use and got LastPass to save them. Took only a short time than just used it in Firefox. Looks like its a good job I did as Norton has no real end in site for geting it sorted (August,  maybe they now say!). Using a working password program I can move (as I probably will) to a diffrent secuity program befor the Norton pasword manager is working (or not)

OK, g_cafe_c...

Are you saying that if I d/l Lastpass and install it, it then asks you which browser you want to add it to? I thought it installed on all browsers on your PC. I only want to try it on FF. Did you add IDSafe data and edit the CSV?

And yank, YES, we saw the "we are hoping for August" post!
