Win 10 Edge browser and post replies

Can anyone with Windows 10 check the Edge Browser and replying to a post in this Community?

What I find is that when I hit the Enter key at the  end of a line, a new line does get created as shown by arrowing down. But the cursor gets moved to the beginning of the original line.

Just checking now, I see that even if I hit Enter on a second or third paragraph, the cursor goes back to the beginning of the reply.

This does not happen using Firefox v40.x.x.

It also did not happen on another forum site.

hi Peter

I have posted this using Edge and it does as you say where the cursor returns to the position where I typed hi.

I have this on my iPad too - running 8.4 but was also there with 8.3 os.
I use an external keyboard (bluetooth) but it happens with the onscreen keyboard too: On the BT keyboard I have to hold the shift key & then press enter to drop down to the next line.

I do not see this on my iPad. But I do not use an external keypboard.

It is an older iPad 3 that I have kept the OS at 7.x.x due to performance issues. Could be an IOS 8.x issue.

Yep!  I haven't been using Edge but I've just noticed this too.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Can someone post a screenshot of what they're seeing? Is the text editor toolbar loading for you in Edge?

On my iPad at the moment, but everything loads and functions as it should except that the cursur returns to the beginning of the post any time you hit the Enter key.

Re: Win 10 Edge browser and post replies

So this problem happens even without Edge? I'm a bit confused now. It sounds like we have 2 issues reported here:

- With Edge browser, the editor toolbar does not appear for Posts or Replies on the Norton Community (see screenshot, editor toolbar outlined in red)

- with any browser, when you hit Enter in the textbox for the editor, the cursor jumps to the very beginning of the post

Please edit my statement above to make them accurate. Thanks.

OK. Sorry if I may have confused you with my last post. I did not mean for you to think I speaking of the problem being on the iPad.

Back on Win 10 and Edge browser.

All the edit features are present in the Edge browser. Screenshot below.

It is just that every time I hit the 'Enter' key to start a new paragraph, the cursor goes to the beginning of the entire post. In this post it will go back to in front of 'OK'. This does not happen with my Firefox 40.0.3 on the same Win 10 computer. It also does not happen on my iPad.

I had posted that I had had this happen to me a few times, intermittently, and with IE and Windows 11 Home Premium 32 bit. I think it may be a compatibility issue.

That issue seemed to me to be similar to

What I find is that when I hit the Enter key at the  end of a line, a new line does get created as shown by arrowing down. But the cursor gets moved to the beginning of the original line

in the OP.

Re: Win 10 Edge browser and post replies

Can those who were experiencing the "jump" back to the beginning of the body try it out again and let me know the results? Our dev team worked on this issue, and we believe it's resolved. Thanks.

OK. I'll try for you.

My first time hitting the enter key, the cursor did go to a new line.

Also the second time I hit the enter key, the cursor went to a new line, yet again.

I would say the team did well on this one.

Thanks.

Re: Win 10 Edge browser and post replies

I got a jump back just now when I posted a note to Dave Coleman and then my IE11 browser refused to give me a reaction to ENTER to make a new paragraph nor SHIFT + ENTER for a CR/LF without the blank line. Nor would it react to CTRL + End .

I reported earlier here in Permalink and as I said it's happened in Windows 7 Home Preview 32 bit with IE11 Internet Explorer  Version 11.0.9600.18097 .

I'm posting this here although not Edge since I just got a notification that the thread was marked as solved.

Hello Hugh

I get it with IE 11 win 7 pro when I use the @ mention feature. It goes back to the front of my Hello.

Thanks.

Re: Win 10 Edge browser and post replies

I've been getting it intermittently so it may be linked to the @mention

although it accepted that and @floplot

without doing it .....
