Win7 Scheduled tasks

Am running Win7 and NIS 19.9.1.4. (Not sure I want to upgrade this yet.)

Going through the scheduled tasks in my computer and found two entries I'm not sure about what they do and thus do I need them.  One is Norton Error Analyser which runs daily at 23.00 and the other is Norton Error Processor which runs daily at 00.00.  Can any one throw any light.

Re: Win7 Scheduled tasks

Hi billjf,
I suppose that two events are used by Norton / Symantec product for error data collection and submission to Symantec servers on a regular basis. Or may be it is to report your product's health to Symantec.

Hmmmm.  Not sure I like messages going anywher unless I know what they contain.  Does anyone have any idea of the implications of stopping them both.

Hi, billjf. That is part of the Norton Community Watch feature.

You can turn it off by going to the Norton UI and selecting Settings/General/Other Settings and turning Norton Community Watch off.

There is no problem with disabling it.

Re: Win7 Scheduled tasks

Thanks for that.  Have turned it off.   Really appreciate your help.  I'm afraid I am a late comer to these sorts of things, nearly 80, and I can usually do the basics but things like scheduled tasks are a bit above my knowledge base.  Perhaps I should stop poking around and assume that the powers that be know what is best for me.  I'm just gratefull that things like Community sites and people like yourself are around.

Hi, billjf. Apart from the Symantec employees who post in red, we are all users here, like you.

If ever you need to know something, someone here will know the answer, so don't hesitate to ask !
