windows 10 start window stops working

Both the windows 10 start window and the notifications window stop working. I use the Norton removal tool to remove Norton360 and then reinstall Norton360. Now the start window and the notifications window work again.

I have gone through this 3 times now. I seems that the Norton360 somehow affects the start window and the notifications window after a few starts. Any ideas?

Re: windows 10 start window stops working

Hello warrenavery

Perhaps Norton Security Deluxe or Premium would work better with Windows 10. Please also remember that Windows 10 is like a Beta program. It is always making changes. Check out the Windows 10 Forum also.

Thanks

Re: windows 10 start window stops working

The Norton Security Suite has been uninstalled twice and then reinstalled twice with the exact same outcome; i.e., the Windows 10 Start Menu and Cortana stop working and then a critical error message appears when the windows button is clicked on.

At a minimum, it's definitely Norton related as once I get to the point that all of the updates and first patch is installed then everything is fine but once that second patch is in then the Windows 10 Start Menu and Cortana cease working. The event is isolated to the installation of the second patch that Norton requires as part of its "LiveUpdate" process. It's easy to blame Windows but it would be nice to hear something about the second patch and what's going on there. Thanks in advance.

Hi, warrenavery.

See if turning off Fast Startup helps: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10...

After turning off Fast Startup, restart your computer.  Finally, check to see if your problem persists.
