Hello benjwds. I run Windows 10 Pro 21H1 version 19043.1083, KB5004945 is installed. Norton 360 version 22.21.5.44. I do not use the standalone VPN as I believe you may be using. Starting the VPN, I cannot duplicate your issue. You may want to restart your computer and recheck for the issue persisting.

What OS are you using?

What Norton products OTHER THAN the VPN are you using?

Re: Windows "PrintNightmare"(KB5004945) update, Norton's VPN blocks internet access.

I'm running: Windows 10 Home version 20H2, KB5004945 and KB4023057 are installed, OS build 19042.1083, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0, NortonLifeLock 360 with version 22.21.5.44. Norton's VPN, Windows, and my Internet connection all worked fine together. I ran Windows update for the PrintNightmare update (KB5004945) and it also updated KB4023057. After updates, when I start Norton 360 VPN, I loose all internet access. If I turn off the VPN, I have Internet access again. Rebooted/Restarted and updated Norton several times, still the same results.

KB4023057 has in its release notes where it resets network settings. It updates Windows Updates service components. Have you manually tried and reset your network settings then restarted to see whether anything changes? If so.  Remove the update KB4023057 and reboot, recheck for the issue still being present.

Edited: I might add that 20H2 will reach end of support on 05/10/2022. You may want to consider moving to 21H1 sooner than later. All my machines are not having any issues with that version release.

Re: Windows "PrintNightmare"(KB5004945) update, Norton's VPN blocks internet access.

Sorry for the delay, working overtime. I've tried several things.
Uninstalled KB4023057.
Reset network.
Updated Windows.
Upgraded to 21H1.
Updated Windows.
Updated Norton twice a day.
After each, I tried the VPN, no internet.
I did notice that when everything was working before, when I hovered the mouse over the wifi icon in the tray, with no VPN it showed "(Router connection) Internet access". With VPN on it showed "(Router connection) No Internet access, (Second line) NortonSecureVPN Internet Access"
