Won't autofill Google password

When I try to sign in to Google, ID Safe autofills my login id (on the first window).

Google then takes me to a second window to fill in my password, but ID Safe will not autofill the password in the second window.

I've tried deleting my Google login from ID Safe and then recreating it, but it still won't autofill my password.

This happens on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I'm using IE11 and NIS version 22.5.4.24.

Any ideas, please?

Re: Won't autofill Google password

FWIW, I get the same results using either IE or Chrome (all versions, all platforms)...

IDSafe for FF was the last working version for Google (and several other websites I use), but the Norton programmers recently eliminated that as an option as well...

I used the built-in reporting tool many months ago to notify Norton about the websites which were not working correctly with the fill-in function - receiving email notices back from them for each that I reported, essentially stating that they were already aware of the issues with these websites and were working on correcting the fill problem - I guess they still are (working on the problem) ...

Now fixed with latest NIS update (22.5.5.14).

Yes, I believe that it is fixed in IE11.

Hello n2009user27

I'm glad your issue is fixed.

Johnnie

The auto fill in for FF is being worked on and will be released in a future update. Sorry Johnnie. I haven't heard anything about IE or Chrome fixes. Has it been fixed with this currently new update 22.5.5.14?

Thanks.

Re: Won't autofill Google password

Hi Flo,

1) The fill issue seems to be fully fixed for the IE implementation.
2) It's still a bit iffy for the Chrome implementation (seems to now be working about 50 to 75% of the time for the "problem" website field fills) ... so for Chrome I'd call the update significant progress that still has room for improvement.

Cheers!
John

Re: Won't autofill Google password

I do see an issue that has been broken for some time now. IF you have several GMAIL accounts, we used to be able to sign into one, and then pick another. In that way we could be logged into several GMAIL accounts at the same time. For a while now, IF you are signed in to a GMAIL account, the option to login and fill password will not come up if you do not log out of the first account.

This used to work well, but will no longer work in IE11 or Chrome. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hello MPSAN

Have you turned Fast Startup off again? The large November update turned Fast Startup back on again.

Thanks.

win764bit ns22.5  idsafe does auto-fill both login pages for gmail in ie11, but it takes me to google my account with no way to exit out to get to my emails. i'm sure i'm overlooking something simple. firefox built-in password mgr works well with gmail login. anyone else seeing this issue? thanks

Re: Won't autofill Google password

floplot, this happens on my wife's XP system as well. In fact I do not stay logged in. This works but if you do not exit a gmail account, it will not let you log in again...norton does not come up.

Re: Won't autofill Google password

Hello

The new 22.5.5.14 has been pulled temporarily, so we will have to see what happens when they reissue the fixed update.

Thanks.

Re: Won't autofill Google password

"Pulled", huh!  Many or possibly all of us now have this version.  How will Symantec make the already updated product on our computers get "pulled" back?

As someone else or other have commented, the Firefox password manager works very well.  The password management auto-fill system in the Norton product is good but sometimes inconsistent on some sites when using Google Chrome browser.

Re: Won't autofill Google password

Hello gcc

By Pull-Back, it is meant that it is not downloading to any one else until they fix some issues. It was released in English first to see how it works, then if ok, it gets translated to all the different languages that Symantec supports. So those customers get the program updates later. Once it's in your computer it's there unless they change every one's manage.com download and instruct the customers to remove and install a different version. That is used if there are a lot of major issues..

If you list the troublesome sites and browser information and the issue, perhaps they can fix those sites. Some things can't be fixed unless customers complain and then sometimes it can take a while, but at least then Symantec knows about it especially if a Guru sees it and wants to report it.

Thanks.

Re: Won't autofill Google password

The often autofill failures (not always often but often enough - sometimes yes sometimes no)  are to sites Gmail, other Google accounts, and www. physicsforums. com when using either Google Chrome (someone else's computer, Windows 7)  and SlimJet  (my computer, Windows Vista).

SlimJet is a Chrome-type browser, and looks and behaves like Google Chrome.  The company is Flashpeak.  SlimJet accepts the Norton Tool Bar and Identity-Safe very well.
