Won't block access to the computer

I just installed it and I set it to lock the account when time is up but it doesn't do anything. If you click on the icon in the taskbar it says that time is up and parents will be notified if you continue, but what good is that? Besides, it doesn't actually even notify me of anything. Why won't it work like it says it does?

Hi mlharding,

Please check out the link below to see if you have followed the steps in the Get Started Help file.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

Also, please make sure you have logged onto the PC as the monitored child when you test the program.

Thanks,

Re: Won't block access to the computer

Apparantly it's been working this whole time, more or less. Apparantly it lets them stay on there for a minute and then puts a timer up and lets them stay on for another minute before logging off, even at restricted times of day. This seems a pretty major flaw since they could just keep logging back on every two minutes and continuing what they're doing with no further restriction than the inconvienience of having to type a password and click a button every two minutes (in doesn't even close the programs being used). This software isn't much good if it doesn't take into account the persistance of children. Norton should do something to overcome this obvious loophole.

Re: Won't block access to the computer

mlharding,

When the time is up or during a curfew period, the child would receive a message saying there are 60 seconds left.  After 60 seconds, the child is allowed to log back to the PC for another 60 seconds to finish whatever he/she was doing.  These behaviors can be repeated for three times,  so the child gets about extra 6 minutes, then he/she wouldn't be able to log back to the PC without the email address and password for the Norton Online Family account.

Thanks,

Katie
