Xbox One wireless speed

Is there a reason why wireless Xbox One speed is so much slower with the Norton Core?  My wired Xbox One download/upload speeds are 145 MB/24 MB.  My 2 kids wireless Xbox Ones are around 40 MB/24 MB with 100% signal.  Prior to the Norton Core the download speeds were nearly 3 times faster with only 90 - 93% signal.

Re: Xbox One wireless speed

I have the same problem on a PS3, wired or wireless. Once I turned off the security on the CORE, the speed on my PS3 doubled, both wired and wireless. Try it. I let Norton know, they are looking into it. I also sent them logs from the CORE. See my post.

Re: Xbox One wireless speed

Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately I had tried disabling packet inspection and it did not help the wireless speed.  Since my wired speed was fine I assumed the game console was using HTTPS for all traffic and not being inspected by the Core.  Hopefully a firmware update fixes otherwise slower console speed is probably the one thing that would have me returning the Core.  While I don't believe it is impacting game play since the speed is still good, it just makes downloads of games and patches slower which is annoying since both tend to be extremely large.

Hi @MAG39Marine,

I have sent you a private message requesting logs. Could you please take a look at your inbox when time permits? Thank you.

Re: Xbox One wireless speed

Have you checked for possible interference?  You can use an app like WiFi Analyzer for Android, or InSSIDer for PCs to find the clearest WiFi channel to use in your environment.

I haven't tried a WiFi analyzer...might give that a shot.  But I never had an issue with my prior NightHawk R7000, placement is the same, microwave wasn't running and laptops and iPads all had expected download speeds when I last tested (probably need to test that again).  Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Xbox One wireless speed

My house is 2800 square feet...the Core is in the center on the first floor and the 2 wireless Xbox One's on the second floor.  The wired Xbox One is on the first floor and 1 room over (with a stainless steel refrigerator between the Core and itself.  I change the wired to wireless and was able to get 120 Mb downloads and checked the upstairs right after and they were 35 Mb.  So while they all show 100% wireless connection it would appear that the Core is struggling to reach the 2nd floor rooms.  The 4 year old wireless router the Core replaced had no problems with the 2nd floor devices.

Re: Xbox One wireless speed

I moved the Core from the center of my house to a corner essentially under the 2 wireless Xbox's.  That did get the average download speed up from 35 Mb to 60 Mb but still less than half what I was getting with a wireless Xbox on the same floor.  Odd thing is I was at 100% connection before moving the Core and had slower speeds and now have 93% connection and am faster.  Considering the time of day (people coming home from work and school) I do see drops in speed and my wired test was only 100 Mb so I will do speed tests this weekend and if wireless results are different will post.  Still disappointing that my old wireless router did not have these issues with 2nd floor devices.
