Your Connection is Not Private

Since installing Norton, whenever I try to go into google.com, Youtube, and many other sites, a prompt comes up stating "Your Connection is Not Private" and those sites are blocked because they use HSTS and the website set back unusual and incorrect credentials. My OS is Windows 10 and the clock is on auto and completely synched. These sites worked fine before Norton. Ideas?

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Hello deltavee77 Give your network settings in Windows 10 a look. You can change your network type to private there, screenshot included for your reference.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Thanks, SoulAsylum. Unfortunately, Core isn't an option found under my Windows 10 network settings and so checking on Private isn't an option. Network settings has lot of other options, but accessing the core isn't on mine for some reason.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Sorry for lack of clarity. In the network settings in Windows 10 select the "current" connection showing you are connected to, then select "change adapter settings". The screenshot I presented was Core as MY current network, yours will be different. Just change the network type to "private". That's all there is to it. Give it a look. I promise it works.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Hi deltavee77,

SoulAsylum is using the Norton Core router .  I am not using the Core and my settings appear as follows:

You do not need the Core in order to make the adjustment in settings that SoulAsylum was referring to.

Hope this works for you.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Any chance you are using the Norton ConnectSafe DNS settings on your computer or your router? This kind of issue with HTTPS sites has happened in the past for ConnectSafe users.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing if I'm using Norton ConnectSafe DNS settings on my computer.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

When I went into "change adapter settings", all that came up was my current wif-fi connected status and nothing else. Certainly nothing like the screen you posted. This problem may be beyond my level of expertise.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Click "change connection properties". Select "private" and close to the desktop.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

While "change adapter settings" is there but only gives the wi-fi status, "change connection properties" isn't shown as an option. My computer is on windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.494, if that's of any value.

Re: Your Connection is Not Private

Yes your version of Windows 10 IS a major issue. It is past end of life and not supported by Microsoft any longer. If you have windows updates disabled somehow you should immediately run it and get your system current. At least to version 1709. This article may help you with your current version.
