Can you give more details?

OS,

Does the Windows account has password?

Is there any application that may login and run at 3am?

Here is the pasted alert. Looks like my mcAfee and some hacker site came on at the exact same time that someone "supposedly" logged in after curfew.

I think this is because Mcafee is doing report/query to the md5.hackerwatch.org which is provide by macfee.

Can you tell me how your accounts setup, i.e. how many widnows account you have, does the child account have Admin right?

My acount is set up so both my son, husband and myself logs in on my name to get on the web. I am the admin.also. Hope this answers your question. I'm not good at all this pc lingo, but I do know that none of us could have logged on at that time. Kinda spooking me out actually.

It seems that your son use the same name to log in as yours. It is unlikely that someone connects to the computer. I think it is macfee was doing things which makes FamilySafety think someone was using the computer.

I think so too. I just wonder why it didn't do this before when McAfee was checking and doing things?? Oh well will keep an eye on it. Do you recommend turning the computer off at night and during the day when no one is home?  Thanks for your help.

I am not familiar with McAfee, but I think Mcafee may choose the late night because it is unlikely anyone will use the computer at that time.

You may consider to let your son log in with different name, so that FamilySafety wont confuse the McAfee's action with your son's account.

I know some applications may perform some task when computer is idle, if you dont have these kind of application, and dont mind the wait of shutdown and bootup, it is not a bad idea to turn off computer if not using.

Re: alerting me someone signed in after curfew when no one home??

Shimmer79,

One of the biggest benefits I have found with Norton Online Family is the ability to differentiate between the online activities of each of my kids and myself.  You might want to consider creating different login accounts for each family member or at least for each of the kids separate from that of the parents.

Online family will allow you to set filering options for each of the kids individually and to monitor each's activites.

Also, since you child is logging in with your account and you are the administrator, the child could disable the Norton Online Family service whereas they would not have this ability in thier own non-administrator accounts.

Shimmer79,

If you would like to create additional windows accounts on your computer, here is some more information on how you can do this:

If you don't want to do this you may want to read the following article about sharing a single account with multiple users:

Re: alerting me someone signed in after curfew when no one home??

We have 1 computer. There are 2 boxs in my son's profile, 1 says administrater and it has a RED line through it. The other box has my name on it and that is the one that is checked green. When I uncheck that green box with my name on it, it says my son is no longer protected. I have only one child using it, so I think it's working with only one user acct. but the instant messaging hasn't worked at all and I know he is IM through my space, but it isn't tracking it at all.

Re: alerting me someone signed in after curfew when no one home??

If you look at my earlier post, it helps describe creating a new Windows Account for each user that uses the computer. In your case it sounds as if your son logs in as your or you have no logins at all, that is when Windows starts, it goes right into the desktop without asking for a password.

You can work in this configuration however it is not ideal as whoever is signed onto the computer will have the same restrictions as your son. If you have more than 1 child you will not be able to distinguish between them nor be able to set different levels or categories for each of them.

As far as not tracking IM through MySpace, this is currently not supported. I will add this to our feature request list.

Matt

I assume that it is either of a standalone window of  MySpaceIM or the IM on a myspace web page. Unfortunately, neither of them is monitored by current OnlineFamily.

Check this message, Marian has some suggestion on the myspace message.
