Norton Family not able to block certain websites if child keeps webpage open when the web address was not blocked for a short period of time everyday

Hi there,

I managed to set up a list of websites to be blocked on my child's computer during school time and I also have another list of restricted websites during non-school time. It is normal that during school time, the list of restricted websites is less and my child is able to go to a few websites that I have restricted during non-school time. I notice that when my child comes home from school, she is still able to access the restricted website during non-school time (despite it being included in the blocked list), this was accomplished by keeping the webpage of the restricted website opened in a web browser (Microsoft Edge). So as long as my child keeps the webpage of the restricted website open on the browser (Microsoft Edge) she will have no problem playing or browsing that blocked website. Is there a solution or way to fix this problem? I don't think the solution is to get my child to close the web browser or shutdown her computer. Thank you.

Re: Norton Family not able to block certain websites if child keeps webpage open when the web address was not blocked for a short period of time everyday

Hi Kim,

Norton Family will monitor any new network traffic after a policy change say during school time or after school time Web supervision.
When a website is already loaded, it stays open until any new navigation is done on that website. The product does not refresh or close the web page automatically. This behavior is same for both school time and web supervision features.

Thanks and Regards,
Norton Family Team.
