Can't connect to Google/Jibe's RCS chat features while connected to VPN on Android

Hello,

While connected to Norton VPN, my Google Messages app is unable to connect to chat features/RCS (which are provided by Jibe Mobile). Is Google/Jibe blocking Norton VPN? Need to know who to contact to address this issue, or perhaps Norton could reach out to Google if they are indeed being blocked.

It is possible that Google/Jibe is blocking Norton's VPN. Many web sites do not allow access from known VPN IP addresses. They do this for copyright, legal, security, and political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections. 

You should reach out to the service provider for that messaging app to see if this is what is happening.

There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections. 

I work in the industry. Blocking a set of VPN IP ranges is usually not due to legal protections unless it is in regards to licensed content, where there are indeed legal restrictions in regards to that.

Also, I reached out. It's a bug in Android that was previously fixed but has cropped up again: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/189577131?pli=1

So, for those who use RCS messaging, we'll have to wait for Android to patched again. This is Google's fault, not Norton's.
