Norton is Officially the most ANNOYING software I have EVER owned!!!!!!!

Every computer I have Norton 360 on in my home, including my phone, ipad, my laptop, my husband's laptop, iphone, ipad, constantly popping up to renew the software. I bought it from Amazon on sale and am waiting until the actual renewal time to update it. Norton wants your credit card number on file so they can auto renew at a much, much higher price.

It has gotten so [Removed], that I am actually considering throwing away the $24.99 I paid Amazon and going with a different antivirus software altogether. Since Lifelock bought Norton, all they do is pull pieces of the software out and sell it separately so they can make more money. They have become one of the most annoying marketing companies of all time! Multiple emails every day, now texts, popups. Aaaaaaarrrrgggggg!! leave me [Removed] alone!!!!!!

I'm a user of Norton 360 and completely understand your frustration. I still use it due to it excelling in lab tests over Windows Defender in stopping malware, but first had to disable the annoying upsells that Norton should most definitely remove from their product - it ruins the perception of quality, even though under the hood it's a great piece of software.

To disable the special offer notivations, go Settings, then the Administrative Settings screen and set “Special Offer Notification” to “Off".

I hope this helps. In regards to the robocall you receive, are you sure it was from Norton? I have never received such a call, so it may have been a scam call. Be sure to not fall victim to tech support/call center scams.

The "Don't Show Me This Again" button should just do its job.  It's not like it's a difficult concept.

As reported by many users in threads asking about how to stop annoying pop-ups, the Special Offer Notification setting does not appear to do anything. It is set to off on my system, and has been set to off from day one. I still receive multiple pop-up notifications each week for Special Offers. And this month I started receiving weekly messages in the notification center for products I might be interested in. These are extremely annoying as they are essentially the emails Norton would send to me if I didn't have my privacy settings set to not receive emails from Norton.

I'm also a long time Norton user.  The constant popups and messages to run scans or buy additional Lifelock programs are driving me crazy.  Your marketing VPS are going to lose customers for you.   If this doesn't stop I will NOT be renewing my subscription.    You've become SCAMMERS!!

I am another long term user who shares this frustration. I have used Norton/Symantec products for most years since I got my first PC in 1992. My account seems to show that I have been using Norton products for the last 13 years straight, but I am sure that it goes back much further than that.

When I first started using it, it was the best anti virus software by far. Then it went through a dodgy period being very resource intensive, but this was resolved and it returned to being a very reliable and dependable product.

However, I am so sick of the upsell pop-ups that I will also be leaving when my renewal comes up next January. 

Lifelock, get your act together! Any company that alienates its loyal customers is destined to fail. If you are not listening to the many loyal users on this forum who are venting their frustration, you don't deserve to survive.

I just cancelled my Norton sub. They have till January to sort this nonsense out. I had one too many popups this morning.

The "My account" Tab was telling; literally plastered with "Buy Now!" buttons.

At this point, I think I would rather have the viruses.

I have been a user of Norton 360, Antivirus, Utilities, and more, for over 3 decades-- back in MS DOS days!  I have never been as unhappy as I am now with this brand.

What ever software changes in the last couple of months or year need to be rolled back ASAP.  This is ridiculous. 

The removing of features from our plans, and then trying to sell them back to us for more money needs to also stop.

I used to work for Symantec and have been using this product since it first started. If these pop-up's and ads are not removed by the renewal of my subscription it will be my last. Most annoying product...EVER!

I just removed Norton 360 Ultimate after 3 days of hell into the 30 day free trial. I had to completely reset my BRAND NEW Win 11 laptop, because Norton slowed it to a crawl. Norton is a bloated resource hog, SCREW YOU NORTON !! NEVER AGAIN !!

Hi Rob,

Sorry to hear of your problems. 

The complaints in this thread are mostly around the annoying pop-ups and adverts trying to upsell the add-on products.

There was a time that Norton did become a resource hog, but that was more than 15 years ago. For a long time, I have found that the protection part of the software happily runs in the background with no discernible impact on performance.

Did you check Task Manager to confirm which apps and processes were responsible?

I have a subscription to the Lifelock service and like the protection it gives for my internet purchases, etc. However, I've never been a fan of Norton Anti-virus and had subscribed to another service which has served me very well for the past 5+ years.

Now that Lifelock has purchased Norton I have two Anti-virus programs on my computer competing for available resources and slowing my system down to annoyingly slow speeds. I want an answer to how do I disable the Norton anti-virus yet maintain the Lifelock protection.

Lifelock should discontinue the practice of automatically including the Norton software with the Lifelock software. I'm sure there are other customers who feel the same way about the conjoined programs. Please let me delete and permanently disable the Norton program while maintaining my Lifelock service.

You can still just purchase the Lifelock services without the Norton device security product (360). See the plans here.   https://www.lifelock.com/?inid=lifelock_nav_home-planschart_home:home#pl...  At the bottom of the page is a link to show the combination plans that include the 360 products.
