Why force all family members to share same login?

I have just wasted 2 hours on chat discovering that Norton (security expert) is forcing all family members to share the same login details (very bad security practice). During the first hour the supervisor told me that family members could have separate login details. However, I subsequently encountered account mismatch error when entering my product key into my partner's PC as it had a different account to mine. Therefore during the second hour a different supervisor told me that I would have to buy a separate subscription for each family member if I didn't want to share my login details and disable two factor authentication (2FA). With 2FA enabled I need to be present each time anyone in my family wants to login (something that happens from time to time) in order to give them a code from my mobile. 2FA is a good security practice that Norton should be promoting.

Why can't Norton offer a family subscription with one person responsible for payments and general account admin, but providing  a collection of product keys to be allocated to different family members? Why anyone would need 10 PCs/ mobile phones (Premium subscription) for their own use? Premium is clearly aimed at families yet it's inherently insecure as it needs login sharing. Time for Norton to step-up and encourage good security practices

Re: Why force all family members to share same login?

Why do your other family members have to sign into your Account? If you have them install Norton from an email you send them from your Norton Account, it will download and install a pre activated copy of the 360 from your subscription. No need to sign into your Account. And they do not have any access to your Account. You need to send a separate email for each device installation as each email invite is only good for one install.

Re: Why force all family members to share same login?

This question is posted in the Norton Family forum. Is this specific to the norton family product or to our Norton 360 security product? For the Norton Famly product, only the parent(s) would need to have an account. The children are added as needed without a norton family account.
