Norton applock setup - Android 11

I have set this app up before but for some reason it does not work anymore. I need to enable Norton App Lock Service under accessibility. Before I had the option to enable. Now there is no enable option, only uninstall!! I thought my son messed something up so I even formatted my tablet to see if that would fix the issue. I still cannot enable so I can't use applock. What do i do?????

Re: Norton applock setup - Android 11

I am stuck on Android 9, so things may have changed with Android 11.

I open Android Settings > Accessibility and see a section for Installed Services. Tapping that brings up a list of apps requiring Accessibility Service. Tapping on Norton App Lock just brings up a page to turn the service on or off.

It sounds like you are going into the Settings > Apps section.

Nope. I'm not going into the app section, it is accessibility. And that's where app lock setup sends you too. It wouldn't allow me to upload pictures on here but this is what I get. I also posted the question in Google support. https://storage.googleapis.com/support-forums-api/attachment/thread-1831... https://storage.googleapis.com/support-forums-api/attachment/thread-1831...

If you just use the back button on your device, or back out of the page where you see the uninstall option, does the service show as turned on?

I'm using my phone, no option for images. I can upload txt, pdf, or zip. kinda ridiculous. If I just hit back it does not enable. I have even tried other parental control apps. They all need that option enabled. It doesn't let me enable it. So weird!

Re: Norton applock setup - Android 11

The image thing is complicated for mobile devices. What I do is send a screenshot to my PC and then post from there.

You say you have tried other parental control apps. Were you able to set the Accessibility Service for those apps?

What device are you using? It could be some proprietary code in that manufacturer's Android version causing this. You could try contacting the manufacturer's support to see if there is some work around for this access to Accessibility Service settings.

I'm using Lenovo yoga tab 11. Maybe when it updated to android 12 it broke it. I tried installing an app called Parental control securekids and it needed that option enabled to work as well. I could not enable it, it only let me uninstall like applock.

Re: Norton applock setup - Android 11

So you are on Android 12. Not 11.

As this issue with the Accessibility Service is affecting more than just Norton's app, it still sounds like an issue with some proprietary code added by Lenovo to their version of the Android system. Try contacting their support to get them to create a support ticket on this issue.

Whoops, sorry I didn't even notice that. Must have been thinking yoga tab 11 and wrote the wrong number. Yes, it is on Android 12. After doing some more research apparently it is not just Lenovo. Google has done something so apps like applock will no longer work. Yours still works? I see bunch of negative reviews in the playstore with other people having the same issue. Norton has even shut down their support email for the app probably because they have received so many complaints and questions. The only way to fix it is possibly downgrade to another android version but I'm not sure if its blocked on all versions now. https://www.xda-developers.com/google-trying-limit-apps-accessibility-se...

Re: Norton applock setup - Android 11

I am not seeing any issue with my App Lock, but I am still on Android 9 (older device, that's the latest Android I can get).

From other information I received from my Norton contacts, this is not just an issue with Norton, but also other apps that require the Accessibility Service. Either the service cannot be started, or it will start but will turn itself off with no warning. So it is up to Google to address the issue with Accessibility Service.

Norton has even shut down their support email for the app probably because they have received so many complaints and questions.

Not sure how you determined this, but Norton has not used email for support for many years now. Only access is phone, chat, twitter.
