Norton Clean troubles

Before Christmas I created a Norton account and installed the antivirus on my PC.

I am satisfied with it for now.

Confident of Norton products, yesterday I downloaded and installed the app Norton Clean on smartphone Samsung Galaxy ZFOLD3 5G, SM-F926B/DS model.

I ran the software to remove unwanted files twice.

After that, as I wish to use the phone as a tablet (unfolding the two screens) the enlarged screen turned to be wholly black and unusable.

I think that probably the app removed files believed to be unwanted but WHICH ARE NOT AT ALL!!!

INDEED, THEY WERE PROBABLY USED TO RUN THE SMARTPHONE AS A TABLET.

I kindly ask the developers the procedure to undo the removal and restore the deleted files.

Hoping not to be forced to take the smartphone to service.

Help, please!

Re: Norton Clean troubles

Hello. I too had Norton Clean on the same device and had the near exact issue you are seeing. Please see my thread here:

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/galaxy-z-fold-3-5g-and-android-13

Although I don't mention Norton Clean in my thread I have suspected that Clean was indeed the culprit, since all the latest updates from my carrier, Verizon, have been installed on the replacement phone I received. There are no issues to date with the replacement device. Things got so bad that eventually there was no "touch" inputs available, I then had to factory reset the device using the external keys and remove my data then return the phone as bad. Please, also keep in mind, these devices are known for black screen issues with the inner screen. I'm on my 3rd device for that reason.

Re: Norton Clean troubles

Just an update to previous posts. I have NOT reinstalled Norton Clean on my replacement device. To date, there are no issues. Android 13, at least the Verizon release doesn't play well with Norton Clean for some reason. I DON'T recommend using it.

Re: Norton Clean troubles

Thank you for posting this thread.  I do find it very interesting although I do not own the devices you have mentioned. It would be easier to find if moved to a different forum and also helpful to others there with similar issues.

That said I have used Norton Clean for some time now and do not find it to be very useful or informative. The cleaning of junk files it does on my phone is very minimal something like 600KB while other cleaners find 214MB to clean.

The award page that comes up is very trivial and may be made for children I would assume and the only real feature I found useful is the percentage of storage used which is available of course through other means. Deleting of apps can also be helpful but I have many other ways to uninstall.

Norton should consider a complete overhaul of this app and based on what has been said in this thread I am going to uninstall Norton Clean to be on the safe side.

Re: Norton Clean troubles

@BAKAR88 Following up with the thread. I have not reinstalled Norton Clean on my Galaxy Z-Fold 3 5G since it died earlier this year. To date, I have NOT had any of the issues that I had before having to have the device replaced. I am of firm belief that Norton Clean was the issue, in that, it wasn't fully compatible with the release of Android 13 as it was released. My personal recommendation for you is uninstall the app and await Norton to revamp it.
