Invisible install?

First I wish to monitor my childs internet use for a period of time before we sit down to having "the talk" with them regarding what sites to visit. We have already talked about this subject and have come to agreement on what is good to use the computers for, however I need the reassurance that they are honest and up front with me. I currently have a separate machine for my teenager and they have a limited account in windows Vista but they are very knowledgable when it comes to computers. They do not know the password for the administrative account. If I install this software, are they able to notice that this monitoring software is on their machine in any way? Either thru normal use of the browser & compuer, or by looking at windows add/install program list, windows task manager processes list or application list, icons in the lower right corner, or...??  I am hoping this software is totally invisible to the user. I currenly do not use any other norton products. Does that make any difference?

Re: Invisible install?

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in OnlineFamily.Norton! I am glad to hear you have taken steps to grant your child the appropriate access level to their PC and that they do not know the administrator password.  This will go a long way to ensure they cannot tamper the Norton Safety Minder software and remain safe online.

The Norton Safety Minder software cannot put into an 'invisible mode'.  It will always place a small tray icon in the bottom right corner of your kid's screen and it will notify them that they are being monitored  This is intended to to help foster "the talk" between parents and their children which we believe is an important part of protecting children online.

The Norton Safety Minder application will work fine without any other Norton software on the computer.

I hope this answers all your questions and that you will give the product a try.

Best,

Collin
