Threat Count for False Positives

Hello

When your Norton Security blocks a threat on your device, it is reported as a threat blocked and shows up on the Activity Feed when you tap the bell. If a threat that was blocked turns out to be one that ended up being reversed by both Safe Web and Blue Coat, does that reversal show up in the Threats Blocked as a lower count? It should also show up under the bell in the Activity Feed saying that the blockage for so and so was reversed? This can also reflect in your Total Score.

Have a Nice Day and

Thanks.

Re: Threat Count for False Positives

Hello Flo!! I haven't seen a previously detected false positive when reversed drop the detection number on my Core. And a detection has not caused my security score to drop. Those are not showing as a reversal under notifications. Having a device connected on Core which doesn't have a Norton product installed DOES lower my score. Once it has dropped from the previously connected list my score returns to its previous number. Hope that helps.

Cheers

Re: Threat Count for False Positives

Hello Soul

I'm trying  to say that it should show up as a reversal in Core Blocked Threats and be reported under Notifications.even if it doesn't affect your Total Score.  The Blocked Threats number should be a true figure as should be the Notifications also.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: Threat Count for False Positives

If I may.

The threats detected would just be a History entry. At the time, there was a detection, so it is recorded. Even if it was a false positive. After the definitions are updated and there is no longer a detection, there would be no reason to go back and scrub the History, especially as it does not affect the protection score.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Threat Count for False Positives

Hello

I'm not being argumentative. The Threats Blocked is a total of all blockages from all devices on the network with Core. So with Safe Web, if I go to a site to look for the Meta Tag on a site, I then sometimes  see the site has a full page blockage. That is recorded in the history on my computer. I don't look for the Meta Tag if there is a blockage. I leave those for the Safe Web Team to do. Then the same blockage is reported in Core with a (2) even though I only went to the site once and saw the blockage. Core doesn't use Safe Web for blockages. A lot of times Safe Web reverses the blockage to the Green OK. So my count goes up by 2 for every blockage I see on my computer. The threats blocked shows up on my Android cellphone since that is where the Core Apps and Firmware are. We don't get to see the logs on Core like we do on a computer. I just believe that Treats Blocked number should be accurate.

This is just my opinion. It doesn't have to become the rule. Although it would be nice if it did.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: Threat Count for False Positives

LOL, I see I made a slight typo. Treats Blocked should be Threats Blocked although perhaps treats blocked is also correct.
