unsuccessful login to norton core

I am trying to connect to a wemo mini smart plug.  Wemo support has been unsuccessful also in the android apps ability to connect for control.  They suggested I change the Cores routers channels to 3,6, or 11.  I used win 10's search box for the IP address and both Firefox and edge would not connect to the routers page to be able to change the settings.  Results were Hmmm, can't reach this page, edge to forbidden on Firefox with the default gateway provided.  The wemo shows up in the wifi list says it's connected but that the internet won't be available but still won't connect to the Samsungs wemo app.  I have tried two different wemos and three different receptacles, all in the same room, the last being 1 foot from the core.  Occasionally Norton will pop up and ask if I want to use a VPN for this connection.

Re: unsuccessful login to norton core

Hello Michael. Core, is not accessible via any web browser interface, only the Core app. To add a device to Core follow these instructions.

The standard broadcast channels for most routers in the US are 1-6-11. I use 11 so you can try that as well. One thing to note regarding your wifi setup. Make sure you DO NOT have the same SSID and same password for BOTH your 2.4 and 5.0 networks. Give them a separate SSID and separate password. Reboot the Core (power cycle). From your memo app tell it to then connect to the 2.4 side of Core wireless, it has the larger area of coverage. When Core alerts you it wants to connect look into your "activity feed" and "notifications" and grant it permission. Your devices should now be connected to and protected by Core. Also keep in mind, if your memo connects to its own wifi Core will not see it nor protect it.

Cheers

SoulAsylum:  Thanks for your time and effort, I'll try that.  I have the 2.4 and 5.0 named differently but I'll put different p.w.'s also.  Cheers back!

Re: unsuccessful login to norton core

Don't know if this applies or not but I found that my internet was being closed due to power saving settings on laptop. there was an option for laptop to turn off device, or sleep the router. I think it was in the device manager but I don't remember. Same place as checking what driver version you use or maybe under network connections. I rarely use the laptop but it did fix my connections

Re: unsuccessful login to norton core

SoulAsylum, thanks for the help.  I have all 3 wemos up and running, although I haven't set up any routines yet, but that's another separate issue.  The  problem in doing this is just finding the page to assign the channels.  Even using the Core's online guide tells you to do things that,  in my case, don't appear on your screen.  i.e. so many versions of phones & s.w....  Anyway you got me going in the right direction!  Thanks again.  Mickey
