All-in-one printer/scanner connection issue on Core

Hi there,

I have some connection issues with my printer/scanner combination (Brother MFC-L2750DW) and hope someone can give me the missing link.

The core is hooked up on a Verizon FiOS Quantum G1100 with only WiFi/SSID Broadcast turned off (that bridge mode with changing router IP addresses did not work out for whatever reason)

While being wireless hooked up to the Core, I can print without problems, but cannot establish a connection to the scanner.  "An error occurred while communicating with the scanner (-9923)"

No VPN running, while in the previous setup w/o Core I never had issues even with the VPN on.

So I disabled all Firewall settings in Norton security on one Mac, no change

I completely uninstalled Norton Security on the Mac, no change

Now here comes the catch; I enabled one of the WiFi's of the bridge router, connected the printer, my mac and voila, no error message whatsoever. It worked flawlessly.

What do I need to do to run that machine wireless over the Core?

Thanks from the lands of confusion

Crashkid. Do you have VOIP and TV services which require DHCP to remain enabled on the FIOS device?

Have you reinstalled the scanner software after connecting it to the Core router? I had similar issues with a multi function printer/scanner. The fact it still works with the old router seems to indicate that the computer is looking for the scanner at the old IP address.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

@SoulAsylum, I do not have VoIP or need that Verizon router (knowingly) for anything else other than distributing the cable channel list/program/menu back to the the cable box. All my streaming etc. happens through the Apple TV.

I am new to network stuff and don't know where your thoughts came from, but I went into the bridge router and disabled the DHCP Server in the IP address distribution - no change.

(Should I keep it off for any reason? Again, I am new to that stuff ;))

@peterweb, I run the printer/scanner via the native Mac driver, not via a Brother App/software, so no re-installation.

On that note - forgot to mention. The Brother iOS App on the phone that is on the same Core network does the job and scans.

Also, printer reset did not fix it.

I have the IP Address and Subnet of the printer. Is there anything in the router that I need to make sure in the Verizon machine to avoid conflict?

Re: All-in-one printer/scanner connection issue on Core

I have a wireless printer HP4650 multifunction printer and it prints fine from my HP chrome computer and my IPhone 7. None of these have norton security but my Dell Latitude e6410 and my Dell e7240 both have Norton and I can't print from either one. How can I fix the problem?

Have no idea what i did. Got it working somehow. I definitely did NOT go into the bridge router to mess with IPs etc. My best guess would be that I randomly reset the whole network by turning off the router. I believe I also changed the network name.

Re: All-in-one printer/scanner connection issue on Core

@jmason471  In general. When you setup your printer for the 1st time, you ONLY need to install the printer on ONE device via the USB cable and use that method. On all on other devices which are wireless capable add the printer through Windows settings. I will detect that it should install the WS drivers for the printe download and install them, making it the default. Reboot your devices, then connect it to your 2.4 GHz Core wireless network, watch for the Core app giving you the notification it has joined your network. This will tell you its connected wirelessly sucessfully. When you try to print a test page select the printer with the name of your printer that ALSO has WS at the end of it. Things should work from there.
