no sound on laptop - problem started last week

Last week, do not know if a result of a Microsoft program download or from Norton live update...but we have lost sound capability on our windows 7 laptop...the icons for the device "test"  that they "appear" to work...but still no sound

Hello KCL. Who makes your laptop? This Microsoft article may be of some help for you. Different laptops can have different issues especially ones that are sound driver related requiring the manufacturer drivers to be reinstalled. Follow the article suggestions and let us know how things go.
