Norton safe search extension on chrome doesn't worok

Any search I type into Norton Safe search always returns a screen that says "

This site can’t provide a secure connection

nortonsafe.search.ask.com sent an invalid response.

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

I cannot even delete the extension from my laptop. I thought if I deleted it and down loaded it it might work. One time I deleted it and downloaded it it didn't change. And the sites that I am search for are sites that I regularly use.
