Unsafe Website

I have started to receive the odd notification of unsafe website on my iPhone when I am not even using any of my devices. The last one was last night when I was asleep. The website is a long jumble of letters and numbers ending .com:443. I am sure it is the same one each time. I took a screenshot of it from the Norton reports. I reported this to Norton who said it was because I had installed both Norton 360 and Norton VPN on my iPhone. If I deleted Norton VPN and reinstalled Norton 360, the problem would go away. I have done this, but am still worried how this happened. I don’t have any unusual apps. I don’t even have FB etc. my iOS is up to date.

Re: Unsafe Website

If Norton determined it was the standalone VPN app causing your issue, they would be the ones that could have given you more information about this.

There are numerous 'normal' apps that will 'call home' each day. Having the two VPN's checking the network at the same time could have generated the messages you were seeing. The VPN does not even have to be active to have the feature checking for compromised networks. This could interfere with the app trying to call home.

Re: Unsafe Website

Thank you. If I was to take my screenshot of the unsafe website and try and convert to a pdf and upload to this site, would that give you any more information? I did email the screenshot to Norton. The website is just a long jumble of letters and numbers starting a.e30fdb334b44b……….. and ending .com:443.

Re: Unsafe Website

If you send your screenshot to your PC, you can use the instructions below.

Instructions to post screenshots can be found here

Not sure how much it would help. If there is nothing but those jumbled numbers and characters, we would probably not be able to trace it.

I would just keep an eye on things for a few days to see if the message comes back.

Re: Unsafe Website

Thank you. I was about to close the post when I got another notification of unsafe website. It is the same website. This was some hours after I had made the changes by Norton. Will reopen the case with them. I was actually on my iPhone at the time and was using an app called Rain Today. The free version, not the Premium one. Not sure whether this was a coincidence since I have had this app for years. I have been going in and out of the app to try and recreate the unsafe notification, but with no luck. Could it be the adverts in the app that is triggering the message?

Re: Unsafe Website

It is entirely possible that ads could cause this. Please let us know what Norton is able to tell you about what they are seeing.
