Access denied on common websites

I have tried to access JC Penneys and Macys with the VPN enabled on and turned off and get “Access Denied.” (See the messages below).

Both of these websites have green check marks on “Norton Safe Search.”  I have cleared the cookies and added both websites and still get access denied.

Does anyone know why this happens and is there a solution to this issue?

Thank you very much.

Penneys

What browser are you using? Try another browser to see if you are still blocked.

Re: Access denied on common websites

I have similar issue when accessing Singapore Airlines website.

    Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/home?" on this server.

I tried turning off VPN but got same issue. Also tried turning off Smart Firewall. I am using Firefox, so tried clearing all Recent History. Tried Google chrome and same issue.

Does anyone know hot to fix this ?

Re: Access denied on common websites

Hi Vet / Marlo57:

The links you have provided are for insecure (http:\\) sites rather than secure (https:\\) sites.  What is your Windows operating system, do you have the latest Firefox v106.0.2 (or Firefox ESR v102.4.0) installed, and when you go to the Firefox setting at Settings | Privacy & Security | Security | HTTPS-Only Mode is the option to Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in All Windows selected (see image below) so that Firefox automatically upgrades your connection to https:\\ whenever possible?

When I click the http:\\ links you provided my Firefox browser automatically re-directs me to the secure sites for these links (i.e., https://www.jcpenney.com/, https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/home#/book/bookflight).

If setting your Firefox HTTPS-Only Mode option to Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in All Windows doesn't help then let us know if you can connect when you click on the secure https:\\ links I posted above (i.e., https://www.jcpenney.com/, https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/home#/book/bookflight).  It's always possible you are using an outdated Firefox bookmark that is trying to connect to an old, insecure http:\\ site that just needs to be updated to the https:\\ version.

Re: Access denied on common websites

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

However, I still have same issue. Checked Firefox version and it is the latest - 106.0.2. Then I changed Firefox setting to Enable HTTPS-Only mode in All Windows. When I clicked on the Singapore Airlines link you posted, I get same error message :

    Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/home" on this server.

Changing link to http:\\ as you mentioned got same error message.

Hi MarLo57:

If you're certain this problem still occurs after Norton VPN is disabled, try clearing your stored cookies, site data and cache in Firefox. Go to Settings | Privacy & Security | Cookies and Site Data, click the Clear Data button, ensure both check boxes are checked, and then click Clear.

If that doesn't work clear your entire browsing history.  While Firefox is open go to History | Clear Recent History (or press Ctrl+Shift+Del) to open the Clear Recent History pop-up, choose Everything for the time range and ensure all check boxes are checked, and select OK.

If that still doesn't help see the suggestions in the SoftwareKeep article Fix “Access Denied, You Don’t Have Permission To Access on This Server” on Windows 10.

I would suggest you to directly contact the respective Singapore Airline representative on:

https://twitter.com/singaporeair

they gonna guide you the exact cause of the error.

You were not supposed to change the link to http:\\ but to https://   It is the 'S' that is important in the information given to you above.

Re: Access denied on common websites

After turning off Norton VPN, I was able to navigate through Singapore Airlines website successfully.

Thank you for your help.
