Why did this happen? If the app you are referring to is the one in the link I gave above, the information I see there says it was updated yesterday. There may be some change made to the app that has triggered the Norton warning.
Your reporting of this app should get it reviewed, and if there is nothing malicious found the detections should stop soon after the review.

I have been having the same issue. Norton 360 on my android phone interrupts the start of Life360 with a warning that it is a risk and is malware. I have been using Life360 for years and this is the first that this has happened. The Life360 app was downloaded directly from Google Play Store.

I don't know why this happened. We have been using it for years and it just started popping as hot this week. I will report it and see what happens.

Screenshot of warning about Life360. The app was downloaded directly from Google Play Store to my Android phone. This has not been happening until recently. I contacted Life360 and they state that the app is perfectly safe as long as it is downloaded directly from Google Play Store. It is difficult to contact Norton regarding this to remedy the issue.

As already noted above, this app was just updated a couple of days ago. So there may be something in the new version that is triggering the Norton detection.
I have been notified from my Norton contact that they are looking into the reports they have received.

I've started having the same issue just this week with Norton 360 flagging my Life360 app as malware. Been using it for 5 years. Would someone at Norton please fix this?

You should only have to go to 360 app Settings and run LiveUpdate from there. That should load the new definitions that no longer detect Life360.

My guess is that this is something that they just recently fixed. Running live update again resolved the issue. Thank you everyone!

So running live update only worked for a couple of hours. I have a ticket in with Norton letting the know the issues with Life360 being detected as malware.
