Expired credit card charged

Received notice that my credit card had expired. Assumed my expired credit card could not be charged as wanted subscription to lapse. Was charged a renewal on my expired credit card anyway. How is that possible? Is that legal? I want a refund.

Updater services allow merchants to know when your credit card information changes, and to alter their records accordingly. If you don’t want to continue the subscription, you’ll need to cancel it directly.
