How to unlock/unblock the school web proxy

Hello,

My kid is having trouble to use the internet in school. After several times consultant with their IT technicians, they suggested me to unblock/unlock the school web proxy on Norton Family.

The OS of the laptop is Win11 Home Edition.

Can you instruct me how to rectify this, please?

Thanks.

Re: How to unlock/unblock the school web proxy

Hi TypeR,

Thanks for reaching out to Norton Family Forum.

Upon analyzing the backend data, we could see that the Norton Family browser extension is disabled in Chrome and Edge browsers.

When the browser extension is disabled, Norton Family offers second layer of protection to safeguard the child which could have blocked the access to the websites based on the house rules. When the second layer of protection is enforced, children would see browser specific internet access block page instead of Norton Family block page.

Could you please enable the Norton Family browser extension and try accessing the school website?

Additionally, could you please confirm whether any Antivirus product is installed on the child's windows device?

If you still face any issues, please revert. We will be happy to help.

Thanks,
Norton Family team

Re: How to unlock/unblock the school web proxy

Hello Srinivasan,

Thanks for the fast response.

We have tried this method since day 1 back to school which was about 4 weeks ago.

Anyway, I have disable the Norton Family on that device this morning, and internet work normally as reported.

I am wondering that can I disable my kid's device on my dashboard, rather than jump to that device and disable it in front of my kid every morning?

Thanks.

Re: How to unlock/unblock the school web proxy

Hello Srinivasan,

Just a quick update.

I have received the instruction from the IT tech from the school.

There is an option in the Web Settings for the child’s house rules that we can enable to allow for proxies on the device.  Just uncheck it.

Thanks for your time and help.

Thanks.
