This happens largely due to Windows updates, which not only add new files to your system, but also save copies of the old system files so that you can revert back if necessary. Over time, this will add a large number of files for Norton to scan. You can periodically use Windows Cleanup to remove the back up files that are no longer needed and to free up disk space.

Thank you. I never knew old files were saved. The files increased all of a sudden almost doubling.
