I bought Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android, on the Web it mentions that it includes VPN, how do I proceed to activate it? I installed Norton VPN Security, it asks me for an activation code or already purchased, I proceed to the purchased but it rejects me mentioning that I have not purchased. How do I get VPN on my Android?

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

The Norton 360 app has a VPN function included in the app. You do not install the standalone Norton Secure VPN app. As you have already tried to install the standalone VPN app, you should uninstall it and use the VPN feature of Norton 360

From the 360 interface, tap on the Privacy section, then tap on VPN. From there you can turn on the VPN and change settings for the feature.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I just wasted my time uninstalling and installing; error wrong code because it does not belong to the correct version.

 I await suggestions...

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Where did you purchase your Norton 360? Directly from Norton or from the Google Play Store?

If you got a product key in an email receipt, from the mobile device try entering the product key at   www.norton.com/setup .

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I registered on the norton.com page, then I did the test by downloading the application; buy from the page and the payment selected by Google Pay.

The registration was done in norton and as I also received the registration by email.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

So as you purchased directly from Norton, the product subscription has already been recorded in your Norton Account.

During the installation process for the 360 app, choose I already have a subscription. That will take you to sign into your Norton Account. Once signed in the app is activated.

Once it is activated you will find the VPN feature in the Privacy section of the main interface. Tapping VPN there will bring up the VPN controls.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

As I mentioned:

 1. I registered by creating my account

 2. I downloaded Norton 360 Trial

 3. From my account I agreed to buy

 4. In the payment method I chose Google Play

 5. Downloaded the app

 6. Google Play asked you to use the purchase record (Subscription) to update the purchase.

 7. I started looking into VPN for Morton 360

 8. I can no longer access my account due to the Authenticator error (two-step security) recommended by the Norton page.

That's how it was and I don't receive a solution to the cases registered in Norton Support either.

Any other information you require, with pleasure.

 Thank you so much...

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

This link www.norton.com/setup sends me to my.norton.com and now I can't access my account due to the failure of codes sent by the Authenticator application.

If you have any other suggestion, I will be very grateful.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I comment:

Norton 360 Mobil Security download that application that does not have a VPN, I tried using Norton 360 Deluxe registering with the serial number that I have, it does not accept those numbers and does not progress.

I reinstalled the one I have and it works with registration but it does not have VPN accessibility options.

And now worse than before, I can't access my account because of the Authenticator app codes error.

In case there is no solution, I will have to abandon Norton.

 I need help please...

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

So it sounds like you actually paid the Google Play Store for the subscription. If so, I would suggest requesting a refund until you can get this sorted.

If you paid the App Store for the subscription for your device, you need to request the refund from there, and cancel that subscription.

For Android subscriptions...https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637?hl=en

What country are you located in? It could be that the VPN feature is not available in your country.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I tried to cancel the purchase on Google Play but due to its policies and refund approval time, the request was denied, unless I cancel it without a refund.

It is not convenient to take this step.

Thank you very much for your support.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Is there a way to ask Norton for a way to activate my account by removing the Authenticator (Two Step Security)?

Since if I can enter my account, then I have the data that I want there.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I have another query:

In Norton Support (Chat) I enter to talk with the digital assistant but when I connect to a representative, he leaves the room and I enter again but the same queries appear again.

How or what should I do to stay online to stay online and be able to chat with a technician?

In my applications nothing happens from these cuts, everything works fine.

 I await your suggestions...

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Is there a way to ask Norton for a way to activate my account by removing the Authenticator (Two Step Security)?

No. That is the whole reason for having the 2FA, Account security. If you were able to get around the 2FA, then anyone with enough information would also be able to get around it and access/hijack your account.  When you set up 2FA, what methods did you set up? Text, phone call? Did you download or print out the one time codes? These are the backup for if your primary method is not available.

What Authenticator app are you using? What errors are you seeing when you try to use it, and where are you seeing the errors?

How long ago did you purchase your subscription from Google Play Store?   Does your 360 app work at all? If so, is it just the VPN feature that you cannot use/find?   Again....What country are you in. The VPN may not be available in your country.

As for your chat session. Are you connecting with a representative on different occasions, or just the one contact? Did the first agent you connected with pass the session on to another representative?

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

I answer your questions:

 1. I set up 2FA on May 20, 2023, the method set up was only by the Authenticator app, I downloaded the security code and to enter, Norton sent me a single sign-on code and I entered all good.

 2. Authenticator app is from Microsoft Corp.

 3. This is the error message Norton sends:

 SERVER ERROR contact Customer Support.

 Error description:

 4. Buy on May 16, 2023 on the Google Play Store.

 5. My 360 app works 100%.

 6. Use in the country of Bolivia, Norton mentions that it is only restricted to China.

 7. Only once was I lucky enough to be able to contact a representative in a chat session, on different occasions I had to send my request by email insisting that I received the email with the case number 78358211.

Thank you very much for your attention and support, I look forward to your comments.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

For the authenticator app, are you using the new code generated by that app each time you try to log into your Norton Account. Each code is for one time use only. Each time you want to log into Norton you have to get a new code, and generally that code is only good for 30 to 60 seconds. So you have to be ready to enter it right away.

If your 360 app is working correctly, are you saying that your copy does not have the VPN feature under the Privacy section of the main interface?

I have asked my Norton contact to verify whether the VPN is available in Bolivia. I'll let you know what I hear.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Your comment is correct, the time of use is limited and I understand it for that access I use the split screen to avoid delays.

The Authenticator application gives me the codes but does not allow access to the Norton account login.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

How exactly did you set up 2FA for your Norton Account using the Microsoft Authenticator app?

When you now go to sign into your Norton account, are you first entering your email address and then the Norton Account password. Then when the 2FA prompt comes up that is when you try to enter the code provided by your authenticator app?

As you seem to be having difficulty with the Microsoft Authenticator app, maybe this Microsoft support information can help.    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/how-to-use-the-micro...

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

How exactly did you set up 2FA for your Norton account using the Microsoft Authenticator app?

I regularly use Microsoft Authenticator to access my apps, I know the procedures for adding accounts and using the app.
In Norton I set 2FA recommendation which is correct security suggestion:
 Sign in account.
In Settings I went to Norton's recommendation Add a second layer of account security
 1. Select the Authenticator Application.
 2. He gave me two options: 1 scan the QR or do it manually.  I don't use PC eventually, I chose to register it manually.
 3. He gave me the account name and password code, mentioning that I add these data to the Authenticator and waiting to place or copy the Authenticator code number.
 4. Enter account access and copy the one-time code.
 5. The application was approved.
 6. Take advantage of adding a new method (Access Codes)
 7. It showed me on the screen the 10 security codes which I saved in the Backup-codes-date.txt file.
 8. Concludes with the message Authenticator is configured.
 9. Click on trust this device not to use the password, only the Authenticator codes.
 10. I concluded this setup all good.
 11. I have logged into my Norton account many times using the authenticator without hindrance and since it claims to trust the device, it bypasses this step.

It sounds like you're having trouble with the Microsoft Authenticator app, maybe this Microsoft support information can help.  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/how-to-use-the-micro...
Regarding the supposed problem with Microsoft Authenticator, no problem, reinstall the app, restore the backup of registered data in the cloud, and my other applications access without hindrance, the 2FA registration account of my account is the same form included but your 6 digit codes do not accept access to my account.
I'm kind of close to why I won't agree to log into my Norton account;  There are many forms of data protection, among them an account name, secret key, both are created randomly, not repetitively, assigning this record with date and time, verifying the record of the Google version of the operating system using file checksum authenticity security methods (SHA-1, MD5, etc..) Since files repeatedly saved two or three times, their chexksum records are totally different.
I consider that it is a good use control and protection measure to avoid use and anti-piracy protection.
To ratify the previous comment, I have created other accounts with the same equipment and 2FA registration and the User names that Norton sends for registration in the Authenticator are random, there is no duplication of the same name, the security codes are totally different and as well the file backups the log data.
If you have a possible solution or not, please tell me.
 Kind regards…

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

 6. Take advantage of adding a new method (Access Codes)
 7. It showed me on the screen the 10 security codes which I saved in the Backup-codes-date.txt file.

So you did save the 10 one time use backup codes for use in case you could not access your authenticator app. That is good.

 8. Concludes with the message Authenticator is configured.
 9. Click on trust this device not to use the password, only the Authenticator codes.

If you click on trust this device, as you noted later, you do not use the authenticator app or any of your backup codes.

 10. I concluded this setup all good.

Have you been using the backup codes or just the one that is generated by the authenticator app?

When you are getting the server error message, is this on a PC or on your mobile device? Was the device you trusted in the 2FA setup a PC or the mobile device?

When you get that error, are you able to use one of your one time codes to get into your account?

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

.I feel very upset6:

In the previous message I mentioned important information, now I am giving you more information (you are aware) about the impediment that I have.

Verifying the purchase I made through the Play Store, the provider is Symantec that resells past licenses. For this reason I can't find my registration code and also this application is totally invaded (Checksum) with dangerous registrations. Following the data, I am also attaching screenshots.

If you are using the official Google Play Store app on your device to download and install your Norton 360, it is not Symantec reselling a license. Every purchase from the Google Play Store is a new subscription. If you found some other play store reselling licenses, that is not an official  Norton source.

The last screenshot you attached shows some Privacy Audit showing permissions required by the Norton product. What app did you use for this Privacy Audit? A security app like Norton is going to need those permissions to provide all the features and protections of the security product.

Norton Internet Security, developed by Symantec Corporation, is a computer program that provides malware prevention and removal for one subscription period and uses signatures and heuristics to identify. Other features included in the product are a personal firewall, spam filtering, and phishing protection. With the launch of the 2015 line in the summer of 2014, Symantec officially retired Norton Internet Security after 14 years as Norton's flagship product. It is replaced by Norton Security, a renowned adaptation of the Norton 360 security suite.

Norton Internet SecurityGeneral informationProgram typeSecurity softwareDeveloperSymantecInitial release2000LicenseNon-free softwareVersionsLast version in testingBeta: 20.0.0.106 (Version 2013) (May 18, 2012 (11 years, 1 month and 28 days)).

Symantec distributed the product as a download, boxed compact disc (CD) copy, and as OEM software. Some retailers also distributed it on a USB flash drive. Norton Internet Security had a 61% market share in the US retail security suite category in the first half of 2007. In this study, competitors, in terms of market share, included security suites from CA, Inc., Trend Micro, and Kaspersky.

As you will see, Norton has affiliates, partners who have free attributions to change their programs, as well as substantial differences in costs, testing times, separate updates from the official Norton page.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to point out here. This information is from over 10 years ago. The product offerings then are nothing like the current offerings by Norton and the other companies you mention here. These Norton references are for the older Norton internet Security and Norton Security products. They have not been offered for many years now, having been replaced by the Norton 360 product.

Something that Morton criticizes is that my country Bolivia does not exist among the listed countries, there is even Africa, but we are not considered just another country (extreme discrimination). Due to this situation, I was forced to buy from the Play Store as a safe alternative and now the result is dire and without any support regarding my current situation with the program.

Norton does not sell in all countries in the world. This can be for legal reasons, or export restrictions placed on technology companies by the Government of the United States. Often citizens of those countries are able to access the product from a neighbouring country's sales retailers. As I already posted above, I have asked for information from my Norton contacts to see if the VPN feature is available in your country. I have not heard back yet, but will update this thread as soon as I do hear.

In case they don't fix this prejudice of not having a 100% optimal product and without limits, I will openly publish to everyone and I will audit pages that evaluate security applications so that they are aware of these terrible extreme problems and as well as a lawsuit, Being able to restitution of damages for a very important amount.

Hoping to receive solutions to these incidents, regards.

  Attached screenshots.

In case it makes a difference, what device are you using and what Android version? Also, what version of the Norton 360 app are you using?

Just a final note here. I am not a Norton employee or representative of any kind. I am just a user like you who is volunteering my time to try to help users with my knowledge of Norton products.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Dear Peter, I have more questions that concern me and how to change from Antivirus to something safe.

 1. Norton disconnected from your service without doing anything on my part.  I reconnected it but this incident should not happen.

 2. It detected an SD Card, very strange since I don't have it in the Cell Phone.

 3. In the analysis from several days ago, reports Malware Web (amn.net), in the Norton menu I cannot access to see what was done, if it was deleted or quarantined;  it just shows it.  I even cleared the history and it still keeps that supposedly deleted message.

Norton on my device is crashing, my data exposed. Attachment screenshot.

If there is something to do, I appreciate it very much.

Dear Friend:

I saved the 10 code file but as I explained in previous posts, my device crashed and I had to reset to factory mode, I lost all my data including this Backup-codes-date.txt file

If so, obviously the step you recommend is the correct one.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Looking back, you said you had trusted your device in the 2FA setup, which allowed you to bypass the 2FA. I would expect that the bypass should still be in effect unless you changed anything. I take it you meant the mobile device. Did you never sign into your Norton Account from a PC?

You previously mentioned reinstalling apps and restoring data from the cloud, but you never mentioned resetting the device. That changes everything as it would give a different id number/code for that device in the Authenticator app. So you would no longer be able to use that app without being able do the setup again from within the Norton Account. Was the file with your codes not get restored with the other files? If so, try accessing your Norton Account from a PC.

Your latest questions.

1. This disconnect my be from an older version. I believe that there is at least one 360 version newer than the on you reported above. Check for updates to your 360 app.

2.  I have seen other instances of an SD card being detected when there is none there. Restarting the device or reinstalling 360 app usually resolves this.

3. If you are referring to the Protection Report, there is no additional information available. It just gives a report on what Norton detected and resolved over the last 30 days. Any dangerous detections would be reported to you at the time they are found by Norton.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

Sorry for the long delay. I finally got a response from Norton.

Yes, we offer N360 & Norton Secure VPN apps on the GP store in the Bolivia region. So the users from that region can subscribe/purchase these apps. If the user purchased the right N360 SKU which includes VPN Feature, it should be visible in the app dashboard and usable by the user.

P.S. There is no Bolivia VPN region in the Secure VPN region list

I have asked a follow up question as to whether the 360 version available to the Bolivian region Google Play Store includes the VPN feature.

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

To help determine what subscription level you have can you please post a screenshot of the main Norton 360 interface?

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 Mobile Security for Android

@Mi Salvador

My Norton contact has confirmed from your image with the product serial number that your subscription does NOT include the VPN. You should be able to confirm this by logging into your Norton Account at my.norton.com . On the main page under the Your Protection section you will see all features that are included in your subscription. If the VPN is not shown there, you do not have that feature.

So if you want the VPN feature, you have a couple of options. You can just purchase a separate subscription to the Norton Secure VPN app. Or you can contact Norton Support to see if they can help you upgrade to a different subscription level that includes the VPN.   www.norton.com/contactcs   If using the chat function, as soon as you can enter any information, enter "agent please". That will get you out of the chat bot and connected to a human.
