HOOKING FRAMEWORK DETECTED- MALICIOUS SOFTWARE ON MOBILE

While installing update for Indusind Bank Mobile app, India I received a pop up message:

"Attention! Hooking Framework Detected!

A malicious software on your mobile device is trying to access the Indus Mobile App,

For safe banking please use IndusMobile App on some other Device"

Scanned my mobile multiple time using installed Norton 360 which is not able to detect any malicious software. Recommendation of Indusind bank to use a separate device is not a workable solution.

Please advise how to identify the hooking software and remove the same from my mobile. Although, I've sought response from Indusind bank but dont expect much from them.

What device and Android version are you using?

Where are you downloading the app from?

Is your device Rooted?

Is this the app you are trying to install?    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fss.indus

Re: HOOKING FRAMEWORK DETECTED- MALICIOUS SOFTWARE ON MOBILE

As your device is using a version of Android that is modified by the manufacturer, there could be something in the OS code changes that your banking app is detecting.

See this post by a Norton employee that has a link to an app that checks for issues with your device that would appear as if your device is rooted, even when it is not.     https://community.norton.com/en/comment/8542938#comment-8542938  Please post a screenshot of that app's results if it does detect something.

If it does, there is nothing Norton can do and you should try posting in the support forums for your device manufacturer. Others may have seen something similar to what you are experiencing

Re: HOOKING FRAMEWORK DETECTED- MALICIOUS SOFTWARE ON MOBILE

Well, it is good news that there is no Root activity. But it brings us back to something in the OS or in the the way the banking is detecting a problem. Neither of which Norton can help with.

So you might get some help from the device manufacturer's support. And maybe the bank's support can come up with something.

Please let us know what you hear from those sources.
