Every time I open Microsoft's Edge internet browser, Norton Antivirus kicks in and slows down the performance of Edge and dominates my CPU capacity to the point that my pages keep hanging. This is incredibly annoying, and I need a solution as I cannot work like this. What is the clash with Norton and Microsoft's Edge browser?

How have you determined it is Norton affecting your Edge?
Have you tried restarting your computer? Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

Hello Ashleigh. On the machine I am presently using I have Edge and Opera GX open at the same time. I don't see any degree of system performance hit the makes any difference. Some things you may want to have a look at are:
Are there any logged entries in Norton history that suggest Norton is blocking anything related to Edge?
Are there any Windows Updates pending?
Edge will check for new versions and updates upon each connection? What is the version of Edge you have installed?
Are you using any VPN, connecting remotely to a work related server?
