Add ability to disable low priority popup notifications

Add ability to disable popups for low priority events that dont require user intervention, such as, Norton Is Performing Background Tasks or Norton Found A Cookie. They dont bother me but some users hate them. Check this thread:  Link

Ok I signed up just to vote for this. It is EXTREMELY annoying, especially because it interrupts you and requires you to do something to make it go away. I'm considering going back to the less obtrusive MacAfee if they don't fix this.

Re: Add ability to disable low priority popup notifications

I too have signed up for the community to support this feature.

Today I received two notifications with the big red X that, as usual, tuened out to be tracking cookies. But in the past couple of months the idle time scan did find a problem that required my intervention. So here is what would work best for me:

1. When the idle scan notifiation indicating "threats were found" comed up, it indicates if more than a tracking cookie is involved.

2. If only a tracking cookie I will dismiss, happy that Norton is keeping my computer clean

3. If it's more I will go into the details.

What is so annoying is that no one wants to let a potential threat go unchecked so you always have to stop what you are doing to learn that it is a cookie.

As others have pointed out in various threads, this tends to cause people to ignore more serious messages.

Please give this high priority,

Charlie

My understanding is that this suppress popups is now a user-changeable option in 2011 NIS (and NAV?)

I have signed up for the community solely to voice support for this feature.

It's not at all clear on the forum how to "vote" for it (suppose this would amount to a forum feature request?) -- so I'll leave this comment.

What I understand is that the cookies no longer give a "red" pop up window. It just display a green checkmark with the words cooke found or something like that.
