Can not removed aaw7boot.log

I was using the Lavasoft Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and uninstalled it about 2 weeks ago and ever since then there I have not been able to get rid of one aaw7boot.log regardless of how many times I destroy it.

So I look inside and I see that it is still active:

Boot Cleaner
[~] Cleaning started at 2009-07-07 11:09

The dates are correct but the boot time is wrong for yesterday and today and my clock is in proper order.

So I just booted up at 6:00 A.M. but the log is recording 11:09 but not not noting A.M. or P.M. plus, at 11:09 last night I was happily sound asleep.

Now I'm am going to put a camera and VCR watching this thing to see if the screen lights up or LED lights blink while I am asleep. Thankfully I never leave my internet connection plugged in at the wall jack when I don't need it.

Whatever program that is leftover from Ad-Aware AE that is doing this boot cleaning is totally invisible, or, something clandestine is writing to the file name C:\aaw7boot.log to divert attention away from itself.

Further suspicion is that I'm under the impression that when Ad-Aware boot scans it creates a new logfile with unique date and time stamp at:

c:\documents and settings\all users\lavasoft\ad-aware 2007\logs

which doesn't exist on my comp.

Not only that, I would like to know is when it is 6:00 A.M. US Central time, where on the globe would it be 11:09? That would surely give two locations as if some clandestine program may doing this but yet is calculating the time of that zone in the log instead of US Central time. That may or may not be a hint to the source or I could be paranoid which round about now either is possible. Lol.

I even put the contents of this post into that log file and saved it and rebooted.

Right at the bottom was added:

Boot Cleaner
[~] Cleaning started at 2009-07-07 13:19

I rebooted at about 8:20 A.M. in comparison to the 13:19.

Any suggestions?

The anniversary edition of Adaware also has an antivirus scanner.  Care should be taken that you are not running to real-time scanners at the same time.  It causes, or can cause conflicts.  You may have had a poor uninstall of Adaware because of it.  I use an older version.

You could use Revo uninstaller to get the rest of Adaware out of your system.

Hi jaronuts,

First of all, I would like to inform you that this forum is especially for the Norton Consumer products (Symantec) only. If you have any problems with other Security programs like Lavasoft Ad-aware, please post the same in the Lavasoft Support Forums or contact Lavasoft Support Center for getting proper response. Here, the gurus and contributors may be able to help you with issues related with Norton Consumer products only.

As far as I knew, this is a reported bug in Ad-aware program. Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition has a "Boot Cleaner" program in it that can eliminate spyware upon boot up whereupon it gives the message "Boot Cleaner Initializing." It creates the file "aaw7boot.log" which you can find in your root directory (c:\). This is the log file for deleting infections during reboot and unfortunately cannot be moved to any other directory than the root directory. Since you have already uninstalled Ad-Aware 2 weeks ago, I suspect that this as a remnant. So, the best thing you can do is to contact the Lavasoft Support and only they will be able to help you further.
