How to access backed up files.

Recently my Bullguard Security was replaced by Norton Security. I noticed that Norton was telling me that my Libre Office program was in need of an update. So I clicked on 'Update' and my Libre Office was updated  to Libre Office 7.3 from Libre Office 6. something (sorry, can't remember the older version).

Now I can't access any of my documents in Libre Office and Libre Office won't even start up.

Basically the update has somehow blocked Libre Office from even starting up.

Re: How to access backed up files.

Have you restarted your computer since the update to Libre Office?  Restarting, not shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled.   If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

What error message do you get when you cannot access the files or start Libre Office?

Norton only notified you of an available update. This sounds more like a failed update that you need to contact Libre Office support to resolve. Or you could try downloading the new version again and reinstall it.

I don't get any error message at all. Libre Office just won't start. Yes, I have restarted my PC since the update.

Re: How to access backed up files.

When you migrated to Norton from Bullguard, did you uninstall Bullguard before installing Norton? There are a number of users here who have found that they have both Norton and Bullguard running on their systems. Having multiple real time AV products running can cause conflicts and strange behaviours.

You can try reinstalling your Libre Office. If that does not resolve your issues, contact their support to see what they have to say.

No, Bullguard was uninstalled automatically.

Not to doubt you, but that is what the others that posted believed. Then they checked Task Manager and found Bullguard services running.

Well, I just checked again and it isn't.

OK. So it sounds like some issue with the update to Libre Office.
