Norton tech deleted and reinstalled 360 premium. Same problem. This occurred after the latest patch was installed. Backup to Norton cloud zips right through as usual.

Hello Burton. Hardware could be causing the 'local' backup due to limitations of transfer rates. I've had it happen on my side with an older HP portable HD that I keep my gaming server backups on so that I don't risk losing a local backup of those files. What type of HD are you using?

I'm using two (one at a time) Maxtor external hard drives. I've never had the problem before. The downloads occur as quickly as ever until it reaches 99% then hangs for 15 or 20 minutes before completing.

Crazy question but. Are you unplugging one drive and connecting the other in the middle of the backup set? Or doing two separate backups? Just a thought. I've also seen Norton hang as you described when Norton is scanning the drive at the end of the backup and finalizing encryption locally.

One backup set at a time fully complete before backing to the second set. As I say, it never hung up before the last patch update.

Chrome or other browsers won't make any difference since backup doesn't use a web browser. Are fully updated on Windows 10 to 22H2 latest build for the Feb. 2023 patches? Any other software running at the time backups are being done and/or screensavers triggered? I will have to perform a test backup to my local portable HP USB hard drive to see if I can see the same appear for you. I will do that this evening and report back what the results are.

Update: I performed a basic backup set to my portable USB connected HP drive. The backup was pretty quick although the drive is not an SSD but an older 2.5" spinning drive. I didn't get any hang time at the very end but the total time to completion wasn't all that fast for me personally. A 5-10 second delay at the end of a local backup was my scenario as it usually is. Key issues are no freezing at any certain percentage nor at the end of the transfer except as noted.

I deleted and recreated backup sets and started again. Same problem.

Are you backing up any files that are encrypted? Norton doesn't like those files.

Your backup experience is what I used to expect.
As far as encrypted files - I don't believe I have any. If I did, would the backup zip up to the cloud, because there's no problem backing up there? Just my external F and G drives.
I tried a 3.0 USB backup as a new set. Same hang at 99%.
