Since the Norton Identity safe rarely prompts to open on my machines I often need to manually open the vault by clicking the VAULT IS CLOSED button.  This is now causing the vault sign in window to open behind the browser requiring yet another mouse click on the Task Bar icon to bring the sign in window into focus.

Yet another move away from a user-friendly, reliable password manager.

Im glad im not the only one getting this,this was going on before the patch where it would show up then when you typed the password it was going into firefox search

Mine has started doing the same thing.  It did not do immediately after the NIS 22.05.124 update but several days later when NIS updated with some kind of patch.

That patch was for FF 39 and to fix some FF crashes.

I may be misreading your post, but I have moved my Safe Log-in Screen slightly off to one side and it does in fact pop up in front (focused) over my IE browser page.  Of course I am using a 23 inch screen so you may not have the real estate available to move it slightly out from behind the open browser page

I also notice that since downloading/installing the latest Norton 360 patch the other day, when I click the Norton toolbar "Open Vault" button in Firefox 38.0.5 the login screen is no longer on top-- it's "buried" behind the browser.

I hunted through the settings and preferences to see if users now had to select "always show Identity Safe login window on top", but couldn't find any user settings for this option.

Frankly, it's a nuisance.  If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.  Please either unfix it or fix the fix.

Glad to hear it, but FYI I installed the patch this morning with high hopes.  Unfortunately, the login window still doesn't open on top, i.e. in front of the browser, as it did formerly.

I tried shutting down, powering off and restarting after the patch was successfully installed -- what used to be called a "cold boot"-- but got the same result.

I don't know who decides that a problem is solved, but this problem hasn't been solved on this computer.  Yes, it's minor, but it is a step backwards that ought to be corrected.

The patch that came out today was just to fix the auto login issue. There will be other patches which will fix other issues. Thanks.

EDIT: Just brought this thread to the attention of Mohan. Perhaps this issue will be worked on next. No promises though.

I spoke to soon! The patch fixed this on my FF 38 but when I updated Firefox to 39 I have this issue again. So, whatever is causing this to open to my Task Bar is happening when I went to FF 39!

Your right!  Sorry about that.

A toolbar patch was released to fix some auto-fill logins on some sites.  The patch solved the vault sign in window opening behind the browser on my machines.  The version number of the toolbars has not changed so there doesn't appear to be an announcement post.

Strange. It was OK in FF 38 but failed in FF 39. Then once in a while it would work in FF39, so not sure what they broke to make it open in my taskbar. I then need to click the taskbar icon to open id safe and log into my LOCAL vault.

Sadly, now that I've upgraded one machine to Win10 I am back to having the vault sign in window opening behind Firefox.

I haven't updated to Windows 10 yet, but this annoyance persists in Win 8.1.

Ever since I started using Norton 360/NIS a few years back, the NIS login vault opened on top (in front of the browser) when the browser (Norton) toolbar "Vault is Closed" button is clicked.

Since the patch before last-- can't recall the exact date-- the vault now opens behind the browser.

I'm using FF 39, but this problem occurred after the Norton patch was installed.

Having to click the vault icon on the taskbar, or minimize the browser to access the vault login screen, is only a minor nuisance.  But it's a step backwards, and a needless inconvenience.

FWIW, I attempted a reported solution ("update the Norton toolbar"), but the toolbar has been updated and the problem persists.

Please fix.  Thanks.

So this issue started when you were moved to 22.5.2.15 and it has carried over to Krusty in Win 10. That is FF opens up behind the browser and the browser is up to date with FF. Have you tried installing the patch first for the browser and then FF? Have you turned off Fast Startup? Thanks.

I don't know what happened but the vault sign in window is working properly again for me now.  That is that the window opens in front of Firefox as designed.

its been on and off along with the Lets Get started trying to log on with the vault, then the greyed out disabled auto protect stuff.However the auto protect has been stable for a couple of days. But the other stuff is the same

Maybe it's because Windows 10 is always updating, I think sometimes without you even knowing it. Just my 2 cents from a non- Win 10 user.

Good theory Flo, but FWIW, my two Win-7 systems (with Windows auto-update disabled) are doing this again too.  Also, I have the Win-10/Pro version installed (with Windows auto-update set to deferred).

I also have this issue and I am on 64 bit Win 8.1 Pro. OH, Norton today in a chat said to wait a while as they will release a patch " real soon now".

FYI, I'm also running Win 8.1, 64-bit and the problem persists in Firefox 40.0.

I did apply a new Norton patch during a Live Update session this morning, but the login panel still opens behind the browser.

FWIW, I disabled Fast Startup a while back as recommended for another Norton problem-- can't remember what.  Also, I generally rely on Firefox auto-updates and Norton Live Update for updates, patches, etc.; I usually run Live Update manually more than once a day just to make sure I have the latest updates.

I'm open to any straightforward fixes, but I'm just continuing to post comments to verify that the annoyance persists, and that Norton and/or Firefox need to fix what wasn't broke.

Although this is not related to the vault opening behind the browser, it is info I feel may be helpfukl and avoid problems in the future.

It is suggested that you received and Apply the Norton Browser Toolbar Add-on from Norton prior to updating Firefox.  In order to do that you need to adjust Firefox > Tool > Options > Advanced set to Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install.  That permits you to ensure the toolbar add-on is up0graded in Norton prior to upgrade FF.

This is/was (for me) a fairly recent, and very "inconsistent" thing (and seemingly having to do with v39.0.3) which not only was affecting IDSafe, but other items as well(e.g. the community image upload popup dialog, etc.) ... But again, very inconsistently so.

FWIW, I think I can say that my list of installed FF extensions and plugins is relatively diminutive, as compared to most...

I can also volunteer (at this point) that since installing v40 a short time ago, I've not seen the obscurement problem re-occur...

Hopefully it stays that way!

If you are referring to the Warning, that is the result of Firefox now requiring all extensions and add-ons to be signed and verified by Mozilla before they can be enabled.  This is Mozilla's doing and it appears to be a new thing since the Toolbar is not as of now been signed by Mozilla. It has been submitted and Norton and Firefox are in contact about this toolbar..

Vault opens behind IE11 for me too on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (NIS version 22.5.2.15).

Why are Norton taking so long to fix it? Is the vault window process simply missing a Get Focus instruction (or something equivalent)?

I've been wondering, too.   I've installed three patches via Live Update in  recent weeks.  None of them rectified this irritating problem.

FWIW, I acknowledge that this is a minor inconvenience.  But it is an inconvenience, and it's fair to say that users preferred having the vault login open on top of the browser window.

I hope they haven't concluded that it's not "broke" enough to fix, and instead just decided that it's the New Normal.

theres been some windows updates in the past couple of days or so for win10, this maybe the catch up game like with firefox upgrades and win10, so norton maybe trying to catch up.When they do there ends being another patch or FF update/upgrade, Thats my thought

Got a toolbar updated for FF today but it did not change the version 2015.5.2.24 but now my vault pops up in front of FF. This is on 2 of my W10 systems. NIS 22.5.2.15

UPDATE: NOT FIXED. After a W10 update and a re-boot it's failing again.

I wonder what the toolbar update was for today.
