Driver Reviver (is it safe?)

I purchased Driver Reviver from Cleverbridge to backup my drivers on my Windows 7 desktop.  But when I install it Norton quarantines it with "PUA.DriverReviver detected by Virus scanner".  I reported this to Cleverbridge and they say it is a false positive.

Does anyone know if this is safe to use so I can tell Norton to ignore and allow me to use it?

For second opinion choose File and / or Search hash at VirusTotal and/or submit to Symantec for review analysis > see > How to report false positives

PUA (potentially unwanted application) is a programs that users wish to be made aware of. These programs include applications that have an impact on security, privacy, resource consumption, or are associated with other security risks. These programs can show a pattern of installation without user permission or notice on a system or be deemed to be separate and different from the application installed.

Norton detects PUAs once they cross a line determined by Norton.
Norton differentiates PUA from other types of malware, such as viruses, Trojans, and worms, which can be safely assumed to be unwanted by the user.

If you choose to go against Norton before hearing back from Symantec or sans second opinion.  Exclude [PUA.DriverReviver] from All Detections.

My Norton product (incorrectly) alerts that a file is infected, or a program or website is suspicious ----My Norton product alerts that the file I downloaded is not safe, and deletes it ---

maybe Cleverbridge added something.   Norton did not flag my test dl/run.  YMMV

@ccastr50:

1. The said Driver Reviver was built to upgrade the driver for your devices on your computer.

(WAIT... my VM's PCI Bus was installed on 21/06/2006?!!! Oh, my.)

And, are you using an Intel's CPU based computer? If so, you can direct pay a visit to this official Intel® Driver Update Utility. AMD? No problem: head to this AMD Driver Autodetect. As for the latter one, beware of some possible foistware, such as this Raptr.

NVIDIA (NVIDIA Driver Downloads (NVIDIA Smart Scan, and that item requires Java (8 Update 101) (get and save the offline setup here.) to be preinstalled) and/or this NVIDIA Update), AMD, and even Intel provide control panels that can automatically check for and download the latest graphics driver updates for you.

Moreover, learn how to do a custom install of a 3rd-party computer program, even when it comes to some security program, such as this McAfee LiveSafe - this helps protect your computer from bloatware.

2. Meantime, you can also learn something from the following links:

3. You can consider requesting a refund, if you find that DoubleDriver (FREE) works for you. As for this possible F/P (false positive), you can contact Corel company for extra help: reviversoft[dot]com/support/contact/

PS: to find out your system info, plz visit this location@ Control Panel\System and Security\System

PPS: Seems that Driver Reviver installed SmartNotifications without permission.
