OATH - Good or Evil

I need help understanding "OATH".  The way I read it, it sounds dangerous.  To me it sounds as though they are going to gather information about us from our texts, voicemails, photos, etc.  I don't have anything to hide, but if I do understand this correctly, I certainly DO NOT like it.  

No one I've talked to seems to be worried or concerned about it.  I would really appreciate feedback from you guys.  I've been retired for years and don't have the knowledge or resources anymore.  At this point I'm ready to ditch my Verizon service and my Yahoo account.  Please help!  Tell me what you think.

There are seemingly secure methods of emailing.  Personally, I use Google & Yahoo ... of course I have to use other methods for my many illegal activities and acts of insurrection.

Honestly, in all likelihood you'll probably be no better-off somewhere else.  Probably, the best thing would be to find a Group that's raising hell about it and sign-up.  Of course, that will put you on yet another List.  Get the picture?  1984 is now.

OATH and brand building? Same as with Google and FaceBook. Its OUR data they use to generate those brands. The US government is allowing this to take place as well with the current laws, none alike the EU which actually take data security rather serious and at levels not seen in this country.

Good News (sort of):  The US is adopting the General Data Protection Regulation, like the EU.  In fact, some Companies are coming into Compliance now.  The Bad News is that I think people are required to to do it themselves.  Recently, I've been getting email notices asking me to review the data they've obtained ... it's a process that we will have to do.  My guess is that fewer people will do that than there are people who actually read EULAs and Privacy Statements !  Frankly, people are too lazy to worry about such things ... until it's too late.

Bottom Line:  In a practical sense, it really is too late to worry about 'Privacy'.  That ship sailed long ago ... around 1984.

In short, ladybouvier,  EVIL ... one of many.  Unless you don't mind someone scanning all your emails and relinquishing rights to Class Action Lawsuits in the future.  Other than than, it's probably great !

I'm going to get started on changing everything to a new e-mail and I suppose new phone service too.  I have Verizon.  Do you have any suggestions for a possibly safe e-mail address?

The best practices would be to change the permissions for all services then use a VPN to use those services. At least that will make it a lot harder for prying to take place and actually recover anything of real values to them. Take the easy road away from them and make it as hard as we can for them. Another solution is using a secured browser such as TOR. https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en
