Norton failed to Protect me.

http :// prntscr . com / m2f35y

After downloading suspicious file it did something to my PC, im not sure (which scares me) But it installed a coin miner and That other virus which was detected by Rouge killer. I did full system scan, Power eraser too but it couldn't find it. Also all of my chrome password's was stolen too, and all Norton did was show a message that a lot of data was being sent out of the computer. I spent money on this antivirus and it couldn't even quit a process while it was transferring my passwords to a remote server that's crazy.

Re: Norton failed to Protect me.

Only rouge killer found the virus after scanning each process.

Re: Norton failed to Protect me.

shortcut virus is a kind of Trojan/worm combination that hides all of your files and folders, then replaces them all with shortcuts that look exactly the same.

When you launch one of these false shortcuts, you end up running malware that duplicates the virus and further infects your system, leading to stolen personal data, worsened system performance, and all kinds of other malware-related side effects.

Shortcut viruses mainly affect physical file transfer devices like USB flash drives, external hard drives, and SD memory cards, but can be transferred to computers when exposed to an infected device that takes advantage of Autorun or Autoplay in Windows.

Many shortcut viruses remain undetected by antivirus software, so running a security suite with virus scanner usually isn’t enough. Fortunately, the process for manually removing a shortcut virus is relatively simple and painless.

FWIW ~ YMMV

Re: Norton failed to Protect me.

Hmm, Im not sure it could be a shortcut virus since many of my system 32 files have been acting weird. Before the virus attack my CPU usage was normal later im seeing system 32 files use high usage and the weird thing is every time i open up Task manager the files close. so i used something called process hacker which i have a lot of experience with to dig in and found details of hidden attached files which when gone into details would open up a lot of power shells. this really scares me since i think it could be some kind of rat, reverse Attack listener method to take control of my PC.

Re: Norton failed to Protect me.

Hello Dishaan. Get Rkill here, it will stop all malicious processes and allow you to then run a full scan with Malwarebytes, see what it detects and gets rid of.
