Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access.

This site was previously hacked and therefore I think has a bad rating from that?

How do I go about making it accessible?

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

Hello Sean. Get us a screenshot of the website URL, you can get a screenshot from your activity feed and notifications on your Core app. Here is how to post screenshots into the thread. We can then check what Safe Web has it rated at. Or you can insert the URL here for Safe Web to give you its current rating. Then, the site OWNER will have to submit their site to Safe Web for review. Once that is done it shouldn't be blocked if its clean.

Core uses Blue Coat for site categorizing so I don't think Blue Coat is the issue. Nevertheless I'd like seeing what you are seeing from the Core app.

Cheers

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

Many thanks for your assistance!

I inserted the site into Safe Web and it didn't ring any alarm bells.

I am not sure how post the screenshot from my mobile - hopefully it is ok if I just post the site here?

thanks!

I see Safe Web dont have any issues.

I have submitted to Bluecoat to whitelist. I guess I wait for them now before I can access the site?

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

All: As previously posted, the "site owner" has to be the entity to request the site review with SafeWeb. Blue Coat on the other hand fits the category in the Core app, which in itself will not block the website.  Enabling ALL my TLS settings in my browser and going to the URL I am presented with this per the screenshot below. Contacting the site owner and letting them know their site security is at risk is the best thing to do in this case. My Core didn't block anything from the site.

Cheers

Just now: Annotation from Core, via Activity Feed. I have no categories set or parental controls.

IE 11:

Simply weird indeed.

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

bjm_ IF the OP does indeed have Core they SHOULD be seeing the same results as I see on my Core. Just a few minutes ago, I once again tried the URL the OP gave, below are the results once again. Blue Coat is not doing the detection, Norton Core Security Plus is based on what it sees. NCSP and Core are tied together, unlike Blue Coat and Safe Web where one doesn't talk to the other as they should. This is IE11 detection which is also reflected in the Core app with the same time stamp.

At this point, personally I'm not even positive we are discussing an issue with a Core router.

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

Hello SeanL

I will have Safe Web check the site for Scam Insight and have them evaluate the site again. Core is blocking the site, so Safe Web has to find something since the maliciousness is up to the customer. The site owner might have to contact the other sites to have them retest the site. Even though Safe Web shows untested, lets see what they say. It looks like Core goes by other security programs besides Safe Web. If that is the case, then Core isn't much help in finding the solution in cleaning up or getting the rating changed.

Thanks bjm & Soul for your help.

Thanks.

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

All: The website the OP gave is now loading. Nothing is being flagged by Core. Please see screenshot below. Just a note for those who wish to use the site and provide CC data, etc. This site DOES NOT have a SSL certificate making it NOT SECURE for banking transactions etc. The site owner SHOULD be aware of the issue and correct it accordingly to protect their business interests. Site visitors should contact the site owner and make them aware of the SSL issue at their earliest convenience.

Re: Norton Core keeps blocking a website I need to access

Hello Soul

I think I read that SSL certificates have not been done since the US has had the partial shutdown. That means for the last 3 weeks. They did mention that many websites will be crippled by that. I think it is referring to the same SSL certificates. This might be affecting only gov. sites?
