Maxes out the disk drive all the time, when no scans running

Oftentimes during the day NortonSecurity.exe will run and absolutely max out the hard drive, thereby slowing everything else down to a crawl - and there is NO Norton scan running or scheduled. Always occurs when I first boot up, meaning I can';t work for the first 10 or minutes, then it randomly executes during the day.

Need to stop this, or else remove Norton. Please advise.  Thanks.

PS Yes, I am uptodate on Norton.
