Https domain level filtering for web supervision

Hi everyone.

I'm on testing Norton Family 30-days trial now. I've read product description before installing it and was tempted especially by "second layer of protection" in "usnupported browsers", as mentioned below

----------------------------------

3What's new in build Norton Family 3.7.3?

  • Https domain level filtering for web supervision - Customers (children) will be protected with Https domain web filtering as a second layer of protection, when
    • Norton Family browser plug-in is disabled/removed
    • Browsing in Incognito, Private & Safe browsing modes
    • Using Unsupported browsers including Microsoft Edge

----------------------------------

Current version, that I'm using is 3.8.7.19 and in fact, Microsoft Edge is supported now as well as Chrome and Firefox, but I was counting on blocking sites in Opera GX. Unfortunatelly it's not working. What is I missed? I want to block sites, when my child is browsing internet with Opera GX. Is Norton Family even capable to help me with that?

Re: Https domain level filtering for web supervision

Any thoughts? Is the reason why blocking sites is not working on Opera GX is I'm on trial (not full) version of Norton Family?

Re: Https domain level filtering for web supervision

Hi dadl,

Thanks for reaching out to Norton Family forum.

It appears that a recent change in Opera GX browser has caused the second layer of protection to not function properly. We shall be investigating this further.

If the child is using unsupported browsers (such as Opera GX), please use App Supervision to block usage of the browser.

It is highly recommended for the child to use Norton Family supported browsers (Chrome, Edge & Firefox) with browser extensions enabled.

Thanks and Regards,
Norton Family Team.

Thanks for your reply.

I hope this feature will be improved soon.

Maybe You also know how to switch from Norton Family 30-day Trial to Norton 360 Deluxe with ease, preserving all settings and accounts created in NF trial?

Re: Https domain level filtering for web supervision

Hi dadl,

We have fixed the issue pertaining to the second layer of protection on Opera GX browser and it should start blocking websites on Opera GX browser too.

Yes, you can purchase any Norton subscription which includes parental control using the same Norton account that you have used for Norton Family 30 day trial. All the settings will be preserved as it is and you can continue using it to protect your child's online activities.

Thanks,
Norton Family Team.

Re: Https domain level filtering for web supervision

These are great news!

Does it require any update procedure at my side? How to update NF once installed?

Re: Https domain level filtering for web supervision

Hi dadl,

The update should get automatically applied within 24 hours and Norton Family should start blocking websites on Opera GX.

If it is not getting updated, please download the latest version of Norton Family by signing into https://family.norton.com and overinstall it on top of the existing product.

Thanks,
Norton Family Team.
