Is Norton compatible with Apple Silicon? And was the issue with the kernel panic resolved?

Does Norton natively support Apple Silicon (M2)? Can it be downloaded from the Mac App Store, or must it be done via the website? Lastly, a few years ago, I had a MacBook Pro, on which I installed Norton. It caused my MacBook to overheat like crazy until it eventually forced it into recovery mode, apparently by causing a “kernel panic”. I no longer have that MacBook and I plan on installing Norton on a desktop Mac computer, so this is no longer an issue, but I’d like to ask if it was an issue with the software, or was my case unique? If it’s the former, was it resolved?

M1/M2 are natively supported by Norton. The forum is dead, not sure what they have hired the moderators for.
