Norton found 10 infected files on an external backup drive but cannot delete - what can I do?

I ran a precautionary scan on an external har drive I have not used in a few years and Norton 360 picked up 10 infected filed but could not take any action - why is this and what can I do to delete them and eliminate the risk?

Hello ottvander. Is the external drive encrypted in any manner? Post a screenshot of the detection from Norton history if you would. I would like to have a look at it others may as well to assist better. Here is how to post screenshots into your replies:
